I remember @alexclaber suggested to plug the hybrid resonator in the SIX10 to get more pronounced mids, anyone try this with good results? It should also help the drivers break up earlier for that extra growl. I hope to test that at rehearsal tonight.

That is interesting.. can't say I've seen that mentioned before. I wonder how my Four10 would sound like that?

It appears to be somewhat of a trade secret of Barefaced but my understanding is that it's some sort of dual tuned porting system that gives you the efficiency and low end response of a port but the punchy character of a sealed cab. I'm sure Alex will correct me if I'm wrong

Stuffed the port, put the cab back down on the floor and cranked the master. Gain just a smidge past 7 o'clock and it sounds wonderful. And loud. I use the separate Meatsmoke pre for overdrive, and now I'm getting there.

How does the low end response change with the port plugged?

I didn't A/B it, but it feels tighter. Still lacking a hint of fatness in the mids (I think), but that may be the bass/setup/strings.

I don't know if anyone's interested (or use the Meatsmoke), but these were the settings of the day:

Mid boost on the Stingray halfway up, backed off the bass ever so slightly. Serious growl when digging in, just a bit hairy when playing with a lighter touch. Volume was good.

Yup, for the clean channel on my new (to me) Meatsmoke preamp, I found my way to very similar settings, with maybe just a hair more mids since I use passive basses.

I haven't worked the overdrive channel too much because I get just the right amount of chunky overdrive pushing the clean channel.

I use the overdrive channel for breaks in a couple of songs. Paint peel off the walls.

That seems like more than enough justification for the average TB'er in most cases. It's certainly been the biggest factor in me having the quantity and quality of gear I have.

Finally get a chance to use my "Six 10 stack" at a gig this weekend. Outdoor block party and even though the Four 10 will cut it I am going to have fun with the 610. To be honest I have not yet found a venue where the Four 10 has struggled, but of course we do have FOH support. Bloody Four 10 just keeps getting louder with no apparent strain. Anyway, this gig is a freebie for a mate so I will just have some fun. A pair of One 10s connected together in series, then connected in parallel with my Four 10 as I have posted before. Should be fun. Still not sure whether to use the Orange AD200 or Fender Super Bassman or the recently acquired Mesa Subway 800+.......will probably go with tubes though
