They don't, because Alex found a driver he feels is superior for his design goals. I'm sure this doesn't diminish the quality of the older design.
I sold my one10 four weeks ago to fund a SC and placed my order on Nov 7 ... according to my calculations I should hear from barefaced any day now. Super excited, I am!
I ordered on Nov 6 and was contacted today to pay the balance, so I'd say your estimate looks good!
It can be such a small world.. playing at a local joint last night... the bass player in the band before my band went on had a Barefaced... I think it was a Super Twin, but it was a late night. I've never even seen another Barefaced cab locally, so to be on a bill with another bass player using one is wild!! The cab sounded great and he was a great guy to talk to as well.
There was another bass player there in the crowd that was gushing about the cabinets all night... he was talking to both of us because he always wanted to try one out but has never seen one to play through. Well, he got to hear both a Super Twin and a Four10 all in one evening!

And even after hearing them both, I still can't decide. They both sounded great!

The other guy's cab did sound great as well... I'm glad I already made my choice otherwise it would be hard to decide.
It was great to meet you and I will have to come check out your band sometime as well!!
Normally I'm not the type to join "clubs", etc. You bass players will understand that, I'm sure.

I don't know Fearful but as I understand, they are using stock drivers in well designed cabs. BF are using propitiatory drivers in well designed cabs. so maybe that gives them an edge?
My experience is that my 2 BF 112's are covering what my previous Berg 312 did. May be the difference is that I will push my BF's harder than I wanted to push the Bergs. I don't know the scientific answer, but the reality for me is, the Bergs have gone.
Totally unscientific, especially since I have never had to push a BB2 far enough to its limits w because it wasn't loud enough at normal levels, and haven't played the Berg stuff, but to be conservative, I wouldn't quite say the Barefaced do TWICE what another good cab can do... but maybe 50% more. This is consistent with what @chris_b just said. Don't expect BF to defy the laws of physics; do expect them to get the very most out of the laws of physics. My two cents.
Quick edit: I've told the tale before, that after hearing BF hyped, I started with a One10, and expected it to defy physics and be enough by itself to play with a regular, full, loud band-- because these are supposed to be space-age miracle cabs, right? The One10 wasn't enough for the big loud band, really. But then I quit expecting the impossible and just expected it to be really awesome. And it was. I DO know that a single BB2 works for almost everything I do, and when in doubt, or just for fun, I bring out the 2nd BF to add to it, the SM. Clearly, I really like the BF cabs, since I have four of them. And wouldn't mind adding a fifth (Two10), if I had the funds.

Just to clarify, @chris_b, the cabinet you were using was what exactly? Three by 12's? Above you said "312" I was wondering if it was 2+1 or 3 seperates or what exactly? Having only heard of a 310, not 312. I currently have and use a Berg AE212 + AE112 Or rarely 4 12's adding an EX.

Our 10CR driver isn't quite as mind-bogglingly potent as our 12XN driver but people more often drive it to full output so they hear what it can really do. Nothing we make defies physics - in the case of the 12XN its just a very big voice coil with a very powerful magnet with a very high volume displacement diaphragm and unusually high sensitivity for such a high power driver. And everything about the cabs is optimised to make the best of the drivers.
Our original Big Baby used the same woofer, the 3012LF, as used in the fEarful/fEarless 12" cabs, and the Big Baby 2 with its unique Barefaced 12XN woofer definitely goes quite a lot louder in real world use.
Just picked up a Quilter BB800. Nice little amp, for sure. Pairing nicely with the BB2, so far. I'm finding I use a bit more of the crossover, since the Quilter's highs aren't quite as open as my Demeter. This seems to be a partial solution, for my clean tone, but not quite as desirable with dirt.
Since my cover band is apparently getting cranked up again (BL is rebooting the project with weddings being the primary focus), I'm considering upgrading my cab to a bigger size. I love my One10/MB200 setup, but with bigger venues approaching, I'm wondering if I'll need a bit more volume. Maybe a Super Compact with an MB500? My goal is to still stay as small/light as possible while boosting the power and volume.
If you need a little extra volume, try a SC before adding more amp. The bigger SC will give you some extra low extension, and a flat EQ voice making it easier to get "louder" with the watts you've got.
Good to know. I figured adding more amp would be a must with that cab, but if not, even better.
Watts will really help headroom and low end production. The rule of thumb is doubling watts gets you +3 dB, which isn't that much more in terms of being "louder." I'm trying to make an educated guess about what you'll be hearing as real world changes.
