Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

The cab alone will give you more volume, but I'd absolutely get a more powerful amp than the MB200... head room and transients, mostly.... 130W 8ohms only goes so far IME. I have a Aggie TH350 that, with 175W at 8 ohms, is about as little as I'd want to gig with, and it seemed to be limiting a bit on a couple of occasions when I gigged it with a BB2 in a fairly loud, fairly big bar. Now, when I run an MB800 with the Big Baby etc, there is never any lack of volume, headroom, etc., and it feels good. I'd bet a MB500 would be just as good in that capacity. I do use the Super Midget with an MB200 often, for not-so-loud gigs, and it really does great.

Have owned my supertwin for a couple of months now, and im still really impressed by it, however I feel with my Tc BH 800 amp, something is still missing. I get a immense massive low-end but i feel I struggle punching through the mix sometimes and have decided that I wanna try something else too go with the supertwin.

What im asking is: are there any particular heads that just really does magic with this cab? I want something that really punches through without being too harsh in the highs, been looking at the markbass ninja 1000w head and the GK mb800 and ampeg pf 800(which would be a bit less modern) but maybe more punchy?

How about an eq. pedal like the Dunlap 10 band?

Or try reducing lows and boosting mids.

Have tried that, I got a darkglass vintage ultra preamp/OD with semi parametric eq. The thing is I just feel this amp is missing some of the fast transient responsiveness I like, particulary at loud volumes, it just starting too sound strained. Also I tried my friends hartke top and felt that was alot better in those areas

I haven't tried the BH800 but I felt that on the TC RH450 I could really feel how the DSP was messing with my tone and however I played or whatever I did with the knobs I couldn't get the big immediate open sound I like. The RH450 has some hefty highpass filtering which removes the deeper lows and always feels at least a bit compressed.

For me, the GK MBF800 is stellar with the ST.

Quilter BB800 does magic with my SM. At least I was asked to bring the volume down at my last gig not to over-run the PA.

I don't have the ST, but do have the BB2 and SM. Like @tallboybass I often use a GK MBF800 and like what I get there quite a lot. I generally like GK tone (also have an MB200) but I think the tube pre- of the MBF800 warms up the tone and smooths the edges in a barely perceptible but nonetheless very beneficial way.

New addition to the Club. Genzler MG800/Barefaced Four10/EBMM Sterling H (the other amp/cab its not mine). This rig can be plenty aggresive, if you ask me!

If you can swing it, I'dg go Super Twin with a big W GK or something like a Genzler MG800.

Last night I played the first gig with my Barefaced Three10. A One10 with the new-to-me Two10, I picked up the day before, sitting underneath it.

Not the loudest of gigs, thought I'd start gently, but there is a lot more in reserve. The tone of my Sadowsky 5 string through an AG700 filled the room with punchy, tight, full, fat and clear low mid-ness. Many good comments all night.

Now the dilemma is do I get a second Two10 and/or sell the SC's?

I personally love the 10s so I'd definitely get a second Two10!!

Depending on how/if the SM situation works out, I might have a BB2 I'd consider parting with, shortly.
