Srsly. I'm sure this machine hauls. I can feel it wanting to get loud whenever I get a little liberal with the master settings. Sadly, right now I'm not able to scrape a band together. I sorta saw a dry spell coming after I placed my order, but I decided to move forward with the order anyway.

Alex, in our email chain, I see why you directed me to the Super Compact. It was my description of what I wanted. In hindsight, I should have realized how much I like two way cabs for certain reasons and gone with the Midget or Big Baby for those reasons. However, you gave me just what I asked for. This also my first one way cab and I knew if be in new sonic territory. It isn't bad in any way, but it is different and I find myself settling in to new EQ settings as I practice with it.

It's a shame this cab doesn't play well with Monique. However, it works quite well with my Buster. I'm finding a micro head with a 4 band or a para will probably work best for a light, portable rig. I'm strongly considering going back to a Puma.

The two way would sound great but, I find those extra high frequencies to dissapear in a rock band setting. When using one way speakers, the sound seems to just push out into the room better and you get more of that grind and life that cuts. More harmonically rich to my ears. Im playing an outside stage on saturday night and plan to use both twins finally. I don't need to use both, I just want too! Yeah, usually prefer a 4 or 5 band eq as well. I love using my VTRM but, need to use the DSP in my carvin amp to bump 150hz by 3db to get the thick punch of my sealed berg.

Gen 3 rigs all have references on their product page regarding how they compare to previous models. BF runs lean on inventory. Thus new drivers = new cabs & bye bye to old ones.

Woolber, if the question is why I would want a compact + midget: mostly just to have 'em :D Also cos I play upright too, so a Compact would serve those needs quite well. And some gigs I play are in such small bars that even the Super Twin is still overkill. As for the Midget, I kinda feel if you get a Compact, you need a Midget to go with it :)

Let's face it, it is more about what you want than what you need ;)

I mean, my Super Twin can handle up to 1,200 watts I believe ... I am getting a GK MB800 (maybe the Fusion, not decided yet) - cos I like the tone and appreciate all the headroom it'll give me. Will I need that much power? Highly doubtable. But I'll have it just the same :cool:

I like your style. It is nice to hear someone justifying gas just because it is gas.

Played an outdoor street festival last night using both twins. It was on one of those moveable stages that are about 2' off the ground but, nice and solid. The sound guy is always the newest hire of the local music store who NEVER even knows how to run a board......not even the slightest clue. So this year I just brough our board, ran an xlr to one of his channels and did the sound myself. Much better than normal and way better sound than any of the other acts got. It was asses and elbows to get it done so, I put a mic on one cab just to hear in my in-ears and carried the show with just the twins pushing sound out front. I had plenty of everything and sounded pretty huge. In retrospect, I should probably have put one cab on the ground behind the stage and left the other on the stage because my cabs were all the way to the back anyway. That would have shook the ground. Anyway, the cabs just rocked. I've got to say though, I prefer using just one cab and may consider selling one of the twins if I really like the new six10 retro cab. I have no intention of ever being without at least one of them though. They are IT. The 610 would give me the extra output needed at really loud gigs like this one but, I'd still have the twin to cover 90% of the rest. We'll see. I absolutely swallowed the stage with the pair of cabs but, I had to compete with the sound out front. It felt like I was playing on stage with motley crue. Luckily, using in-ear monitors, I could get away with it and not have problems with monitors feeding back, etc. I had my wife take a picture of the amp and cabs.

just snagged a Genz Shuttle 9.0. the quick test says good things. the mid scoop is nice. the para mid is very useful. the overdrive sound is tasty too. i did expect the output to be a bit louder with the wattage rating, but it is pretty decent. i'd call this a really good pairing. i'm sure with a Twin or a second Compact it would crush.

really beginning to love the Genz Shuttle 9.0 with the Super Compact. i'm finding i can get some of the "two-way" cab sound i'd been after with a bit of toying with the mid boost and mid freq each set near 3 o'clock, and the bass boost engaged, plus a little treble boost.

yesterday, i found i could get a real woody, brown sound (evh brown, not the other one) and it almost reminded me of how my old Warwicks sounded even though i was using my P bass.

I picked up a phil jones bass buddy preamp to use as my DI to FOH on acoutic rock gigs and it kills. I ran it as a preamp into the carvin poweramp, into one of my twins and it was shockingly punchy and clear. It is a killer preamp. Much bigger low end than the sansamp and I could dial it in to sound similar. Hmm, wish I had more electric gigs so that I could compare the two more. Got two in august. The acoustic thing has really caught on and kind of become a love hate scenario. Anyway, the bass buddy is a great match for the twins. Eq is just awsome!
