Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

It's good that it worked for you in that context. I just don't want to spend my time fielding emails from people saying "I read that a Two10S plus a Big Baby 2 is THE BEST TONE EVER" because it happened to work really well for one person in one place at one time! ;-)

In the interest of balance, I will say that on one occasion I tried stacking my Gen 2 Compact on a Trace Elliot 1153 and it was the most horrible thing I've ever heard. It did everything wrong. Far worse than either cab on its own. Ran just the Compact and everything was back to normal again.

I've bought Tim1's spare One10 to match the two I already have. This will give me a 3x10 stack and a 2.67ohm load, which my Genzler amp is designed for. Looking forward to being able to crank this thing!
For those who probably don't know, Marty is a bit of a legend in the New Zealand bass scene. Back in the day he played in The Chants, one of the country's first great rock bands.

I have 2 Two10S's. I run both at 12 ohms in the loud blues rock band. With my Aguilar AG700 I can take plaster off the walls.

I sometimes run a 310 with a Two10S at 4 ohms and my One10 at 8 ohms. The ohms switch just gives another level of flexibility when I mix and match cabs.

I am curious about this. I am ordering the Two10s but because of my 5 string I am nervous about the low end. I have a 500w @ 4Ω terror bass head. You think the low end will be adequate? 500w into 2x10 theoretically should be monstrous. Thanks

I can say you should be OK, but I don't know the Terror Bass, or how loud you intend to play. I also use 5 string basses and in my loud band I'll always take both Two10's, but we are loud! The 310 would be used for, what I'd call, a "normal" band volume.

I'd suggest you email Barefaced, tell them what you are intending to do. They'll ask questions and give their advice. IME they are pretty spot on when they make suggestions.

Good luck.

Nah, mate. Only a legend in my own lunchbox. It's getting harder to play these days with the dreaded arthritis settling into my hands. I'm taking Herbie Flower"s advice and playing minimalist ...

The 310 seems like such a perfect rig. Gonna save up and get one to go with the 210s

In my experience a four10 pushed by 400w keeps up pretty good with two guitarists cranking 412's and a loud drummer, actually better than my 215 surprisingly.

I'm not a kid anymore so I prefer modular rigs. IMO they make better use of the cabs, are a better fit for some of the gigs I do these days and are easier to store at home and transport. Don't forget you'll need an amp that can handle 2.67 ohms for a 4ohm 210 and an 8ohm 110.

Thanks Alex, you may remember I bought one of the first Four 10 cabs three years ago (I am in New Zealand) and have never looked back since. Once the Two 10s arrives I will be having a cleanout of my other brand cabs, can't really imagine using anything else now. It has been a pleasure being a small part of watching such a wonderful product develop as it has, personal customer service being a huge part of it. Good luck with the guitar cabs, the bass amp has me excited.

I also ordered one of the first Four10's, when it was on introductory pricing, which (I think) means it must have been one of the first 10 built? And yes-- Four10 + Two10s (which I got shortly after the "s" version came out) is pretty incredible. More often than not for me, it's well more than I need. Two10s + One10 is also a nice combo; I got a 2-ohm-capable amp specifically for the purposes of being able to run that combo. Sorry to say to Alex that I am not likely to buy another of his bass cabs soon. The ones I have will hold me pretty much forever-- but I DO use them all ... Now the amp, that's another matter... :)

Yeah, the amp I have doesn't go to 2Ω.

I just checked the calculation and if I put the Two10s in 12Ω and the One10 in 8Ω wouldn't that be a 4.7Ω load?

Perhaps, but the One10 would receive a disproportionately high share of the power.

If my math is correct then the One10 would get 2/3 of the power and each driver in the Two10 would get 1/6.

I wouldn't do that with a big amp. The lion's share of the power would be going through the single 10. It will get hell loud before disaster and that's part of the problem, hearing when the 3/4? share of the power per woofer is getting too much for the little fella. It's far worse than 2/3 because of the impedances.

Three people and three different impedance calculations. Math is a funny thing! Maybe I should just stick to playing the bass. ;)

When you phrase it that way, it's fairly obvious that simply leaving the One10 at home and running the Two10 at 4 ohm is likely the better option (for owners of non 2 ohm capable amps).
