Why not send an email to Barefaced? (Although it seems to me that Alex has said already that an SC would work work with an older Compact. Just not sure where.)
Thanks for the heads up, I'm in the UK so would probably be no good for me sadly. A couple of weeks ago someone locally to me was advertising an OG Compact for a ridiculous price, messaged him quickly but had already decided to keep it. Hopefully he changes his mind, I'd give him a fair amount more than he was asking!
Also considering a Two10 S, I forgot to say. Dont want to bother Alex as I'm a way of actually pulling the trigger, but just trying to round the choices down.
Alex is willing to give all sorts of advice about his cabs. Emailing to him should be part of the decision making process.
That's the exact one I was talking about. It's an older Compact 15, but he listed it as a Super Compact, complete with pictures of a Super Compact as well as a picture of a Compact 15. That's why I say there's a good chance the buyer is not happy
I messaged him several weeks before buying my One10, and I was still undecided. He actually told me the One10 might not work for me (due to tone, not power) and I ordered it anyway. Like a lot of these CS oriented builders he seems more than happy to steer you in the right direction, even if it's away from their product.
I recently decided not to buy a certain cab because the builder kept telling me I was crazy not to buy his stuff at the price he was offering.
Just give him a shout.
I know I am replying to a 6-week-old post here, and I appreciate anyone who is skeptical about anything - a smart way to approach things. But I have to say that a single BB2 can do some amazing things. Including loud, and with a low B. It makes it seem like you have PA support when you don't, the warmth on the bottom is so lush. Tends to fill a room uniformly. And if you do have PA support, well...
BB2 has more inherent thickness and solid bottom than SM. I love my SM and use it often as a nice "mid-size" option. I would not use the SM as a full-on, loud as you can get, room-filling party band cab -- but I would use the BB2 that way. I've never felt the BB2 reach a limit when I've gigged it. Now, maybe you'd like 2 of them? Or a BT? But I think most people would be surprised to know what a BB2 cab, among all cabs and among Barefaced cabs, can do on its own without any backup.
The size of the cabinet itself-- it has more volume than the SM by a fairly significant amount while still being fairly modest in size overall-- plays a big part in that physics I think. And the tweeter, which can obviously be used or not as one sees fit, gives the attack, snap or edge when you want it. Can't beat that combo and as much as I love the One10, Two10, Four10, SM --if I could only have one it would be the BB2.

Sooo, my Two10s arrived a week ago. Left it in the box all day to acclimatise, opened it up after work and all was good. Quick read of the info sheet that came with it, then the excitement was too much, had to get it plugged in and tried! Fired it up with a TC BH800 head, set the cab to 4 ohms, played for a bit, and thought 'I thought it would have more guts than this?' Played around with settings for a bit, no real improvement. Thought 'this can't be right' and hauled my markbass 2x10 through for comparison. The 8 ohm markbass was much louder and deeper sounding at the same settings. Absolutely gutted. Contacted Alex, who suggested trying the 12ohm setting, it was even quieter. Contacted again, this time Alex suggested checking the speakers were in phase. 9v battery and guitar lead test - sure enough, the top driver was moving backwards with a positive signal while the lower one went forwards. Quick flip of the wires, re-assemble, and BOOM! There it is! Big fat bassy wallop! After a couple of hours playing at a decent volume it sounds like the speaker is starting to break in, lows tightening up and overall sound is settling in from the initial slightly 'tight' feel to a more rounded, 'relaxed' sound. Great clarity available too if you want it, no worries about having no tweeter. I'm sure it will open up a lot more yet as the cones loosen up. Delighted! Alex was very helpful with advice on which cab would suit me best before ordering, and even more so in helping to figure out what the problem was. No doubt they're very busy but I can't fault the service at Barefaced. As the saying goes - all's well that ends well, and they get my vote! There will be another on order as soon as funds allow!
Lordy, YES! It will bloom quite nicely after a few hours of playing (preferably at volume.) I was astounded hearing the bloom on all three of my BF cabs (10"s AND 12"s) as I was playing! You will be very happy!
Congrats....again! I thought there must be a reason you didn't say much when you first got it. Bravo on not bashing right away. Glad you could get it sorted out easily.
With much patience and resistance, I contacted Alex last week. He said my order will ship this week!

I don't know how that got past QC, it's very strange.
We aren't actually busy in terms of orders - global pandemic and few gigs means not many people need our cabs right now. Have had to halve the workforce since the pandemic began due to the massive drop in sales and we still don't have enough orders to employ the remaining staff full time, so we're spread very thin doing what we can in the hours we have. It's very difficult because the business overhead hasn't decreased (same premises etc) and we're having to hold greater stock of components and materials than ever before due to the pandemic and brexit's impact on supply chains, so impacts on both profitability and cashflow. Just got to keep battling on and we'll come out the other side, eventually...

Hi Alex, sorry to hear you are suffering also. For some reason I had assumed it is business very much as usual for you. I have been considering adding a Super Midget to my Barefaced stable, so may be I can do my little bit to help as down here in New Zealand we are fortunate that gigs are full speed ahead. Can you tell me what is the current wait time before delivery, please?

Already happy! You can hear a sizeable difference in the lows already, I'm pretty stunned at the sheer amount of low end for the size of the cab! But yes, it's just getting steadily better.
Yeah I wasn't up for criticising anybody without reason, that's only fair. And it turned out to be a really simple fix as well, so no drama. It's kinda cool hearing the sound opening up too as it gets played more, it just keeps getting better!
Which cab are you getting?
This sucks and specially for the people affected. Would love to help more but there are no prospect of live restarting soon and I have not broken my Super Midget live yet.
As a consolation, working from home means that I used daily my Barefaced (cab and bass sitting right next to me outside of the webcam field of view).
Just see that you have some merch, let me order a hoodie and a t-shirt
Fun things, my SM cover is atop of a suitcase just in the back of my home office, I dislike background function in video call so...well...a lot of people in my company have been exposed with the brand
I'd love to order a One10T to match my One10, but yeah, lack of gigs has stalled my purchases. I haven't even broken in my One10 yet.
