We're now proud to launch the Big Baby 3 and Big Twin 3. The previous models were a revolution but these are simply an evolution - there are so many ways that we can't improve upon the existing models. So we've kept all the awesome tone in a very tough light enclosure but improved the performance at higher volume levels, increased the tonal range and made them even easier to gig with.

Here's the changes

1. New enclosures

2. Updated crossover

3. Convective Pumped Cooling

4. New grills, handles and logo

The BB3 is now the same width as the BT3 (and previous BT2) making for an awesome looking modular rig, with the cab, grill and port widths all exactly matching.

The BT2 was already marketed as FRFR, so this is now even more FRFR than FRFR ?
Or is it just a more genuine FRFR than the previous FRFR ?

The new crossover gives greater maximum treble brightness/clarity but turned down slightly it sounds exactly the same as the old crossover (and you can still turn it all the way off, so you just get more tonal range than before).

I honestly can't imagine getting more treble brightness/clarity. Any more and you could sonically decapitate yourself.

Agreed. Using my BB2 pair as a PA I'd have it backed off a tad from the max. Of course, having some extra brightness might be beneficial is certain rooms or using for keys or other instruments and playback. Maybe the extra "brightness" allows users to set the dial closer to the middle of the range to get a balanced FRFR sound so you can boost the brightness if you need/want. Alex and crew usually have a reason for what they do, and they are aware of what customers post online. I have to imagine there's a sensible motivation for the modification.


Been looking back at the BF site. I occasionally think of getting a SM again, but for the price and what I'm looking to achieve, a One10 or One10T seems much more reasonable. I'm thinking a One10T adds a done variety to my existing collection, as I don't plan to sell the BB2 pair.

He had his BB3s before I placed an order for a BB2. I haven't received any heads up email about BB3s. Oh well. If the BB2 is all that it's supposed to be, the BB3 should not be much of an upgrade, no?

Why don't you just drop them an email and ask rather than waiting to see what they do? They usually answer emails quickly and you won't get anything but speculation here.

I'm interested in finding out more about the new crossover? I'm using my cab as an FRFR one and have always wondered if would be simpler with a conventional tweeter attenuator control?

The overall clarity and wonderful bottom end is what appeals to me about the Big Baby 2, I'm very happy with them.

I think the SuperTwin I ordered back in June is still being built. Hope they put the new logo on mine, I kinda like it.

If I had a 19" wide amp and didn't want it to hang over the sides of my BB2 I'd just put the cab on its side.

IMO nothing about the BB3 makes the BB2 redundant. They will be 2 fantastic cabs.

I would reach out to Barefaced. But either way, if you get the BB2 or BB3, you're going to love it. They are fantastic cabs!

It's actually not bothering me at all. I was just making an observation. If for some reason I don't like a BB2, I can return it. I'm not anticipating being disappointed with the Barefaced though.

If it was me, and I didn't have any other BF cabs (like the Super Midget that fits nicely on top of the BB2), I would request the update to the BB3. If you just let it go and get the BB2, I think you'll still be happy, but you might be wondering if they could've update the order. That said, if you're planning to get a Super Midget as a companion, the BB2 is closer in size, the BB3 would be wider and look weird aesthetically.

I would guess BF wouldn't unilaterally change the order without contacting the buyer first. The new format might not fit the intended purpose. I'm sure they would change the order to a BB3 if they could and the buyer requested it.

On the other hand this might be a limited release (Beta testing?). There's probably a price difference and they might not have the parts supply in place to launch full production of the new cab.

It really would bother me to have ordered something that was to become obsolete before it even arrived, I would be extra miffed to not have received any communication from the company with the option to switch to the new model or at least be offered discount on the obsolete one.
That said, it doesn't surprise me really. I have had a bad customers service experience with barefaced (as have many others, see tolex issues) and as much as I like the cabs I won't buy anything new form them again.

Obviously you had an experience that wasn't good, which I can understand, but "obsolete" is quite a stretch here. The 3 is wider to fit rack width, which is nice. The crossover extends treble brightness, which I've never read a complaint about. An improved cooling airflow can't be bad, but it isn't a complaint I've seen from users about the BB2.

The Tolex issue has apparently been fixed. That was on the early versions of the One10. I have a One10 and never had an issue.

My issue was not with the tolex but a pricing screw up on their part during my order and the way it was dealt with just didn't sit right.
The tolex on my 210 and 410 are both fine for now, I was just pointing to that as the most well known customer service issue.

Obviously you had an experience that wasn't good, which I can understand, but "obsolete" is quite a stretch here.

Well I don't have the full details, but, I stand by my words with the information I have right now. If the BB2 is discontinued and superseded by the BB3 then it would be by definition obsolete. If they continue to sell both then that is a different story.

I'm not saying by any means that something being discontinued makes it trash of course, just that I would be more than a little annoyed at not being contacted on my order if the product was in a changeover period.
