Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

recently picked up this head on the used market. i had a pf-20t once and i was never very impressed by it, but i always wondered about the 50. the other day I found a pretty good deal and figured what the hay; and im glad i did. This amp sounds great and has just enough tone shaping to really excite the possibilities of these cabs. The combo sounds like a tiny SVT and definitely punches above its weight.

That amp is my "Gold Standard" for tone. I use a HX Stomp live, but my standard patch is modeled after the sound of this amp. I'm also very surprised how loud 50 watts can get. It's fun to dime the volume control and let the amp sweat a bit. Sounds glorious. The transformer DI out is also excellent and I've used the amp like a big heavy preamp/DI on some gigs with no cab attached.

Alex did say that BareFaced has been working on new amplifier, "forever, it seems like" -- since 2017, actually -- and that "it's going to be really good." He said that, back 11 month ago, in a video on YouTube (around the 5:40 mark). So yes, I think he is designing an amplifier. Will he ever finish it, and start selling it? I have no clue.

I regularly use an sm with a bb2. It is a wonderful combination which frankly I cannot fault. A bonus is the smaller size of the sm is perfect for practices etc and believe me it can still go plenty loud. I sold my one 10 after getting the sm. One other consideration is that I believe the sm is a better fit on the bb2 than the bb3. Just a comment I read somewhere.

With (2) Two10's you'd have to run them both at 12 ohms with those amps. I'd figure the 7pro would do okay, not so sure about the 3pro. I guess it all depends on how much headroom you'd need.

Ampeg stuff pairs very well with them. I use an SVT II and a V4B RI with mine all the time and they sound fantastic.
