I'm sure the BB5 is excellent and I have considered it. However I'm really into the extended scale of the XB75 with the asymmetric neck option. If I'm not getting the 35.5 scale, then I'd just assume go with one of the bolt-on models. Thanks.
Couldn't hold out ( bad GAS) for a SB5000, wanted a XB75 but with all the good write up On the SB5000 and an good price it's worth a shot. I know how the XB75 plays and sounds very warm with good lows. When it come in I'll post some pic's.

lizzy is a great bassist, and cool ass chicka to boot. does alot of gigs with alot of different projects in seattle.
I am considering ordering the AC40 fretless, but I have not found any samples of its sound. Can anyone point me to audio or video demos of that product?
I play with an acoustic jazz group, so I need a sound that approximates the sound of an upright. Yet I would like solos to cut through with greater brightness and punch, and not be muddy sounding (which is the problem with the true acoustic bass guitar I'm now using). Would also be useful to be able to get the punchier sound of contemporary smooth jazz (thinking of Paul Denman's sound on Sade's "Love Deluxe"), but I realize that may be asking a lot from a single instrument!
Is the AC40 a candidate for this job, or should I be looking at another model? If the AC40 is The One, then any suggestion on the most appropriate wood for the top, to get the tones that I am seeking? And, finally, I prefer the look of no soundhole. Does that option alter the sound in any way, or is the soundhole non-functional?
Any help greatly appreciated.
