Do you have the birdseye headstock? Got any more pics? That's a beautiful bass!

Hello Carvinites!

I have a question and thought this would be the best place since you are all here in one place vs a new thread and this in a way is a Carvinesque question.

First the why. After 18 years I am looking to get/build a new main 5 string, I love my old Ibanez but I need a passive bass. Of late my fave 4 banger is a Burny BVB96 which is a flying V, so I have decided to built a 5 string flying V bass.

After some looking and thought [quality, detentions ect] I have decided on a Cavin neck.

What I'm asking is the old question Bolt-in VS Neck-though theme. Mainy my worry is about PUNCH! as I have only owned bold-ons and set necks and not spent enough time with neck-throughs this is a bit of a worry... I know I like Rics and T-birds and thought them punchy but still I want to know from people that might have or have played basses from the same company with both to set my fears to rest.

So... Do Thoughs have atleast the same amount of punch on the low notes as a bolt-on given all else is the same?

Thanks!

Here's my new SB4000. I've only had it one day, but this is perhaps the best bass I've ever played. High quality finish, low action, smooth neck, growling tone, lighter than expected weight and well balanced. LOVE.

B5, an excellent 5 string that cuts in the mix. Black and tan, (black alder with maple neck/board). Master Vol and Pan (B-M-T controls below). About 8 pounds, neck perfect, straight, action as low as it goes. My favorite bass ever and since 1972 I have owned a lot. Ordered backup(s) when I heard they were going out of production, due in March. Will keep you posted.

I hope that is number worthy.

This is me and My LB76 translucent saphire blue over quilted maple. Black headstock and hardware. Photo was done about 12 years ago during a battle of the bands show in San Diego. Band was/is called Minds i. Bought the bass in 1995-96 right before I got married. Future wife "helped" with the build order.
