This one is interesting. The bass was defretted by the previous owner, which wasn't too good of a job. So I had to sand down the fingerboard a bit to level it out and dyed the board black to mask the inlaid lines in an attempt to get as close to an unlined fingerboard as I could. It came with stock gold hardware common with late '90s Carvins. So i replaced all of the hardware with new, black hardware. Black on wood grain just looks too damn cool if you ask me. Next, I installed a Hipshot D-Tuner and a string thru WD bridge. I had to drill holes through the body because string thru was not an option in 1996. I also custom wired it. It had a 3 band active eq, key word HAD. I removed it and wired it: bridge pickup, volume control, jack. simple and easy. Next i ended up routing the body for a Carvin soapbar pickup. And the newest addition is the ramp, which I think i'm going to make a new one the is the width of the bridge pickup. The only 2 things left that are stock, is the wood and the nut. Overall, I am very satisfied with what I have done and with this bass. It has to be the best playing and sounding bass I have ever owned.
I have yet to ever see an LB70 without the rounded body sides option. Does anybody have any examples of one?
The first two pictures posted in this thread, my LB70s. Neither has the rounded body option.
I've been thinking about it, since you can get them in the soapbar housing, but I haven't done it yet.

Back in 2000, I decided to switch to bass (from guitar) full time... Looked around everywhere for my first bass and decided Carvin was the best value, I loved the whole custom order deal. I got in over my head by skipping the 4 and 5 string and went straight to 6.
I got this baby in Sept. 2000, specs:
LB76
Koa body wings w/ matching koa headstock
1-piece Maple neck
Ebony board w/ no inlays
Black hardware
HB2
We played everywhere together in SoCal for about 7 years and then I thought I was done with her... Sold her on eBay in May 2007 to a buyer in TX. A year or so later I felt remorse that I sold my first bass, so I contacted the buyer to see if I could buy her back - no response.
Then, 1 week ago she pops up here on TB and has now found her way to Chicago. At first look I knew it was her, verified the serial number (I never forgot it) and now she is on her way back home 3+ years later.
She is lovingly nicknamed EARTHQUAKE, because she's got an earthy natural look and she rumbles like a California quake.
At this point I don't really know how much action she'll see as I bought her back more for sentimental value than anything... But you never know.
I expect delivery on Tue, 12/14. So till then, here is a pic from the seller:

I did not 'search' this thread as '115' and '15.1' gets kicked in a search...
And, since Carvin has awesome phone customer support, yet HORRIBLE email customer support - I'd like to pose a question here:
Does anyone know of any possible plans for a BRX 15.1NEO or 15.2NEO?
I think one of each of those, and maybe a 10.8NEO would round out their PRO line and attract some added customers to their cabs. Carvin has a great reputation for their BRX line of cabs (which only has a 410 and 210, currently), but not so much on their BR line (bottom end does not really exist or mud's-out).
Anyway - here's hoping someone from Carvin see's this and...
1. fixes their online contact form to actually send the questions/concerns to real people
2. answers positively to their potential future additions of 15's to the BRX line (please,please,please)
I have a BX500 amp and absolutely love it, but I am finding it hard to match cabs to it (I do not yet have the 10.4NEO because I would rather run 2 - 15's). I would even think about making the BX500 a backup/practice amp (with a 10.4NEO) and snag a BX1500 and bi-amp lows (< 800) into a 15.1NEO and highs (> 800) into a 10.2NEO.

Sign me up! Owner of a Carvin IC5 (neck through, quilted maple, vintage yellow) since 2008. My first fretted 5-string bass that I've owned. Nice, solid bass.
Oringinally, Carvin shipped an IC5 with the wrong color scheme; tabacco burst instead of the vintage yellow that I ordered. I sent it back even though it played and sounded great. As long as you are passing out numbers, I have the basses shown in my signature as well as a PB500 amp with 1x18 and 4x10, a PB100 amp 1x15, 2 B115 1x15" cabinets (late 70s, early 80s) and 2 971 PA cabinets that I use with my BX1200 amp. I also have various other Carvin gear, patch panels, cords, strings,etc.
