Hey Carvin Crew. I am considering buying a used Carvin and have been checking a few out on various websites.
I really like the Piezo sound. The following link is too an Ebay listing and I sent the seller a message asking if it had the Piezo bridge. He wasn't sure and asked how he could tell.
I was hoping somebody here could either tell if this has the Piezo bridge from the pics and controls or else let me know what to tell the seller to look for on the bass to tell if it's Piezo.

there are little metal ovals under each strong on the bridge on an LB75P. I think that bass is a (quite nice) LB75).
The piezos are quite visible on mine, even in this poorly lit photo.
The preamp is out on mine, so I've never heard the piezos. But the bass sounds just great set passive!

Thanks so much for responding. this really well done bass review sold me on the Piezo's. I have been trying to hear some audio on both the Bongo Bass Piezo's and the Carvin Piezo's but couldn't find any. Then I found this video... he does a nice demo of the Piezo bridge

Thank you for the photo. I have to admit I am having trouble seeing the ovals...
Are they part of the black part facing toward the pickups or are they the gold part facing upwards away from the bass?

They are part of the saddle, which are the six squarish things that are right under where the string begins to angle down.
From the way you describe what you're seeing, I think it's the part "facing" the pickups. Farther away in the bridge you're seeing the springs that move the saddles when you shorten string length with adjustments.
Each oval has like a little silver dot on either side...
It's a terrible picture, and maybe not easy to see if you don't know what you're looking for.
The bass player.tv review was nice. He keeps saying "articulate," which does describe what piezos sound like, but they're usually much clankier, messy, and full of fret and finger noises. You have to be a good player and have a pretty good amp to make them sound musical. I haven't bothered to fix mine as I know that it's a very hard to control sound.
I like the massive bridge pickup in my carvin more than those soapbars, but I'm judging using my little netbook speakers...
just got my 2nd carvin in my collection....posted pics of this in the sb4000/5000 roll call, but thought I'd share it in this thread also. (already got a carvin club #)...

Once you told me what to look for I think it's clear that ebay bass does not have the Piezo Bridge. Thanks for the added info on the Piezo too!
I find the piezo gives my LB75P and XB75P more percussive capabilities. I dial in just a little.
Anyone know if that is an upgraded/aftermarket neck p/up? Looks nice. I can't find a big pole piece 6 string J on their site...
Really GAS'n for an SB4000 - what bass could I compare the neck to if I dropped into Guitar Center?
I know - pay for a Carvin, try it and return it if I do not like it - a tad bit of a hassle that can be avoided if I had an idea of what I'm getting into first.
