This is what I have in the works from Devon. Will have a Nordstrand 3b preamp with passive tone control. Nordy DC pups with switches for single coil/series/parallel. All black hardware with a clear pickguard and a cream pearloid pickguard. It's a swamp ash body with a quilted Sapelle top and an Indian Rosewood freboard. Gonna be nice man! Can't wait.

Looks like a beauty! The pick up combo is exactly what I have been contemplating for my own Devon build. When are you expecting this one to arrive? Definately looking forward to hearing this one as well.

Hey Steve. Devon said early to mid summer. Possibly sooner. Sooner would be nice
I will post it here as soon as I get it. Not sure I will have it for that West shore gig though.

What strings are you all using on your Devon's? I've decided I don't like the GHS Super Steels Devon ships with. Thinking maybe Pure Blues or GHS Pressure Wounds or maybe even just plain old D'Addario nickels.

I use DR Fat Beams. They are my go to for all my basses though. Used to use SS Loriders but recently switched to the Fat Beams. They sound killer.

I've used Pure Blues on all my Devons and Roscoes and it's a match made in heaven.

I'm a string snob for sure. There are very few strings that I think sound good. I was absolutely shocked at how good DR Pure Blues sound on my Roscoes. They project the entire spectrum, nothing is restrained or neutered..all the while without being harsh or ganky. Not many strings can do this.

They are fairly similar to be honest. Those 2 sets are the only nickel sets I like. I used them for the same reason scuba is suggesting to slightly tame a really bright bass and both sets did a great job. Still gave some zing but not as zingy as steels. I liked them both way better than regular d'addarios. If you like the pure Blues you will probably like the NYXL's as well. They both feel great.
