Tried the Vintage-4 few days ago eventhough I'm not into reliced basses at all. It felt really good. Very light and neck was extremely comfortable. Don't want to gig with my old pbass which is reason why I'm in a search for a new bass.
Have to add Hipshot D-tuner for it if I end up buying it. Might strip it too...
Anyone else tried it?

Have any of you played the new D series of basses?

I own a D-4. I love it. My only complaint is that it's a little heavy, but that's because I've been throwing around uber-light Ergodynes for so long!

The bass plays like a dream. But I think it's best attribute is how it really cuts through the mix. That's really important in a metal band with not only two halfstacks and a screamer, but a keyboard player, too. I need every bit of "cutting through" that I can get.

It looks just like this:

I just got my grubby hands on a Viper 404!
This is without a doubt the best bass I have ever played. It plays and sounds amazing. The craftsmanship is top notch too. You can dial in all kinds of great tones with the EMG's. It's a very warm yet bright and crunchy sounding bass. Dare I say it sounds and plays better then my Stingray!
This was the #1 bass on my G.A.S. list and I got it for an incredible deal. I got it for $400 cuz the pickups weren't working, I brought the bass home and fixed the pickups in about 5 minutes. Turns out that the spring under the pickup was making contact with the pickup connection and was shorting it out.
Now it works perfectly.
It's just an amazing bass in every aspect.
Here it is.

far out,... can you let me know how it plays??? the ONLY place I can find that sells them in SA is in gawler,... which means id have to get up at 7am to get out to there in time for them to open then rush back into town for my bass lesson,...

ive loved ESP's since the day I heard of bass/guitars... and the F104 is just like arggg... heard one live at a gig and although I thought would have had a better tone using pick instead of fingers (was hard to tell tho) it sounded brilliant and exactly what I wanted,... I love my rbx375 but it just isnt the same and the tone is too jazzy/ not enough metal/rock tone...

mmmm looks like im getting up early to go play one in real life now I guess,...

i love this bass, vintage fenderish...but with it's own unique midragne vibe, very cool!

i allready have a b-55, but the neck has went a little out of shape...i heard that ltds usually have this problem..is this true?...im going to buy a ESP BTL-STD 5 Bass BKS but im fearing the same problem will occur on this one too...could anyone please tell me anything about this...

My first step up bass (from a Yamaha BB200) was my LTD B-204. Still have it, still love it. Plays like it costs twice as much, and looks awesome. Love the feel, and speed of the neck (even though it is worn to heck now). Only problem is the jack will not clean well and any movement causes loud noises. So it is semi-retired, but not for sale, (my drummer uses it at the moment to learn). I'll grab a picture when I can. Replaced with a Modulus, but hope to one day grab a custom ESP to add to my collection.

Based on Invalid Link Removed but equiped with Seymour Duncan SMB-5D pickups, STC-3 preamp and custom pearloid ESP logo. See thru black color.

Nice instrument, but too heavy for me. So I sold it... It sounds very similar to Stingray HH, but with more "roundnes" in midrange and warmer lows.

Got my viper about a few months back and I frickin love it. The fully active EMG's make all the difference in tone. The only gripe I have is that I got the black model and well it's a bit hard to keep it clean, but it's still worth it for the looks people give you when yer on stage. I doubt I will be replacing her anytime soon thats fer sure :hyper:
