I'm hopefully picking this baby up on Saturday. It'll be my first bass. Couldn't pass up the $299 closeout price for a $600list bass.

I say hopefully because two of the EQ pots were a little gritty, but the tech at Sam Ash lubed them up and says they are good to go, pending my inspection of course. This is a real looker. And the beautiful redhead will be riding shotgun with me once she arrives as well. I'm psyched!:bassist::hyper:

Thanks to TBer ack for pointing this model out to me.

Hmmm...looks like a B155? If so youu are getting ripped at $299. I picked one up $286 in November. But, I guess they can get away with it since know one has any left.
Other than that great bass!

Yes, Yes! Thanks for the good eyes, boys. I must be losing my mind. Apparently I downloaded the wrong file off the web. I never could count all that well, but to miss that fifth string in that picture, sheesh!

I removed the photo from the original post. The one I played and am buying at SA is definitely a B-254. It has all the fieldmarks of one. It's got the brownish border to the flame, the B-254 inlay, and FOUR STRINGS! I feel like an idiot, but that's not unusual. Must go an hide for awhile.:hiding:

See below the newly customized photochop of the B-254. Thanks for looking out for me guys. I would have been pissed if I got ripped.:bassist:

Dummy signing off.

Very Proactive comment,

How can he get ripped off for just $14 more of what you paid for?, :rollno:
if he's happy with the bass let it be and please don't come with downer comments.:scowl:

I think he got a real good deal at $299 especially if no one has them.
You got a tad better deal

I'm the local ESP Distributor and both of you got a GOOD deal.
The margins on LTD are VERY VERY Small, You'll be surprised

Great instruments for the $$$.

now go ahead and play it out with pride
regards,
CJ

Apologies - shouldnt have said ripped, since yes $14 is very little. But you would think they might be clearing them out at maybe $250. Either way it is a great bass for the $$. Yes, I bought my F255FM from a local retailer and he was telling me the same story about the ESP/LTD pricing.

Hey Guys,
I'm another one who has a 30th anniversary B2005, currently strung BEAD.

I'm kinda torn between keeping it or selling it because it sounds very uneven tomy ear. Has anyone ever modded one?

Hey

I have mine strung BEAD too and the A string sits totally not in the mix, while the others are pretty good in the mix. I have been thinking a long time about changing pickups because it plays so good, but I think I'm just gonnan save for a really good fiver!

What kind of mods did you have in mind and how is the B string with you. Mine is ok, but not mindblowing or anything.

Hello,

Can I join the ESP club and claim my membership number please?

I have an ESP 400 Series Jazz bass. It's an early one bought brand new in 1989 in the UK. It's a bit confusing though as the head on it is nothing like any other head I have seen on an ESP 400 Series Jazz and is exactly like a Fender head as you can see in the photo. On the back of the head it has a serial number 6252 and says Made In Japan. On the plate that joins the neck to the body, it says ESP and a serial number 02699. I have no idea what these numbers mean.

The bass plays and sounds superb and the neck is so thin. Its a bit tatty now as its been toured and played to death but it still sounds and plays amazing. It also came with a white scratchplate which I have taken off from day one.

If anyone can shed anymore info on it for me, especially with regards to why it has a different head than other ESP 400 series Jazz basses then I would be really grateful.

I had purchased a ESP LTD B155DX, and it was beautiful! :D However I found a section of the neck with a scrape (on the side near where it bolts on) in it I didn't notice when bought it. It sounded pretty good other than it seemed weak on power output, but went through 3 batteries (the stock one + 2 Eveready alk eng) in 2 months time only playing about 4 hours/night. :eyebrow: I didn't think the fretwork was all that great either, but it sure looked good! In the mean time I had been playing my Ibanez Roadstar tuned to C G C F which I've grown to love - so I traded in the DX for a NEW Ibanez SR400QM! :hyper: It's such a better sounding/playing bass! Yes I wanted to go back to narrow neck 4 bangers tuned to C G C F, and the faulty DX made it easy. Maybe I just got the lemon.
