Okay, did it and it worked out great

The pre and post feature really comes in handy. In pre it affects both signals, the wet (112 cab) and the dry (212 cab). In post it's only on the wet side and the other is unaffected. The app is just killer, makes everything so easy!

The only part of the app I haven’t quite figured out yet is saving edits to presets that are already on the pedal. I’ll save them and sometimes they’ll stick and other times they won’t- obviously there is something I’m doing wrong when the edits don’t save so I just have to figure out what it is.

About to upgrade my 2 factor pedals to the H9 (possibly 2). If I get an H9 Max AND get the Core, can I "max out" the core with the algos registered to the Max?

All algorithms that you own that are associated with your account are available to all the H9s that are on that account (although there might be a limit of like 5?). In essence, yes. It's not really "maxing out" your Core, but all the algos are available to it. I did exactly what you did---replaced a PF/MF combo with a Max/Core. Works great.

FWIW, I bought a New MAX, and a used CORE. I was able to get an open box new MAX for a decent price, then months later bought a used CORE when one with a good price came along.

Well OK, thank you... it's not a great pic, and the stuff is still in a state of flux, but these are the 3 racks. I use small and light racks because they are easy to handle and transport. I'm not intending on handing them to someone else to transport anytime soon, if ever. If so, they'd need to go in ethafoam padded clamshell cases.

The top rack has the Helix and FX all midi'd up. There's a separate midi routing for almost every device to/from the Motu Midi Express XT in the top space. The FX are mounted to a sliding shelf in the rack.

There is also a Liquid Foot Pro (LFP) Midi Controller, a Source Audio Reflex midi pedal, 2 Mission pedals for the Helix, and of course the Helix Control foot controller. The Midi and power wiring to the Reflex and the LFP are on CAT5, so it's a simple and clean single point of connection to each one.

The middle rack has a pair of M-Audio Profire 2626's (audio I/O) for record mics and other I/O for the DAW, as well as headphone mixes. This record rack doesn't normally live stacked with the bass racks, but I have a space issue in here... There is also an ART HeadAmp4 pro for the headphone amps and source mixing that goes in the gap.

The bottom rack has a BBE BMAX-T preamp, a Sabine NAV4800 speaker system controller (EQ, limiters, crossovers, bass speaker/PA system delay, etc) and a Carvin DCM3800L amp that I use to feed a pair of modded (by me) Avatar 126 cabinets. I'm still working on a sub for the octave below the low E for the low B, special FX, and synth sounds.

I can just plug a bass into the BMAX-T (it feeds into the NAV4800 too) instead of using the Helix and go basic preamp-amp-speakers, it's good on 4 string, or I can just use the Helix without the bottom rack, if I'm going direct to some other system.

The computer on top is the main DAW computer for audio I/O from the Profire boxes. It also controls 2 stereo headphone mixes from one of the Profires. A second laptop doing DAW duty is for the Helix app and it's USB audio i/o. It also handles the H9 software (bluetooth), the NAV4800 software (USB/serial), and the Motu MidiExpressXT software (USB). These 2 computers both run Reaper and should be midi sync'ed together eventually, once I figure that out. There's a third laptop that controls the 2nd Profire's monitor mixes, so I can get 4 discreet stereo headphone mixes if necessary. This all gives pretty good tracking capabilities without using a hardware mixer.

Ok, so I'm REALLY surprised on how good the fuzzes/distortions/overdrives sound coming from the H9. From subtle to brutal. Very impressed. I've already saved a few to my Core to feed into other effects.

Also, the filter in the Sculpt is pretty bad azz....

Middle stomp on my as PF went last night. It was always a little tetchy but now I'm bummed. But, have I had it ten years?!

Got me a 2nd h9. Sort of dirt, synth, ringmod and pitching from one. Mostly tremolo, reverb and delay from the other. Sounds and works great like this!
