That's the beauty of pre/post routing. You can do the pre route in front of your preamp and the post route in the FX loop after the preamp.
That's great. As soon as I get my Olympic preamp I'll run the H9 this way. That would be the right moment to start exploring the Sculpt algoritm which I never did. Some people seem to love dirt tones from the H9, some others absolutely hate it. I like the pitchfuzz honestly, never tested OD and distortion presets.

I think the problem, as usual, is that the factory presets are a little over-the-top and not really representative of what the algorithms can do. I haven't really dug into Sculpt but I think both Crushstation and Pitchfuzz have some really cool sounds.
I'm pretty sure many people have flipped their H9s because of that. They really should have 2 reasonable bass specific and 2 reasonable guitar specific presets for each algorithm. Aside from some Reverb algos, most of them come with 15+ presets that are cool for the first 5 minutes and then become like ear poison. I suepect many people bought H9s, had a cool 1 day honeymoon period, and then could not take it anymore and had to flip them.

I don't think all the presets are terrible but definitely my most used presets are things I've come up with myself/heavily modified.
A few pitch shifting presets are decent, a lot of reverb ones, the most subtle ones, are not bad.

My favorite Crushstation bass preset is my own modification of "Bottom Feeder," I think, a real heavy multiple-octave fuzz sound.
For overdrive and distortion, you really have to make your own presets from the ground up. Use clean blend and just a little bit of gain for better result. I use a sculpt setting for some slight upper grit. Key is to just spend some time tweaking and comparing with whatever favorite drive pedal you have around.
Here is a preset I made that I think is a great little overdrive sound. It's made with the pitchfuzz algo. I was trying to create something that sounded likethe MBD-1.
I recently got the real MBD-1. And it's actually not a bad imitation. The MBD-1 is definitely fatter sounding but my imitation still does what I wanted it to- which was to add a little more harmonic grit and dirty up my bass tone in an aggressive way. I called the preset "Oomph" coz that's what wanted it to do. As you can see on the preset I have the expression pedal set up to add a bit more dirt if need be.

Here's an alrounder for just some slight grit i use when not needing full on distortion. Or to beef up modulation or some synth sounds on my 2nd h9.
Less gain and higher mix might work better with higher output basses.
I decided to sell my H9 MAX to a dear friend (I have another one in the studio). What should I do to give him my Eventide account without forcing him to use my username, email etc.?

Yes you just unregister the device on your account, then he registers it in his name. Happens all the time.

I've actually never done it, I just see the question a lot and I know that's the answer. I *think* you can do it in the app (go to the menu and look for an option to de-register), just explore that first, and if not send an e-mail to Eventide support.
I had to contact Eventide to register the used Core I bought, as apparently the previous owner didn't deregister it. They got back to me right away, and I was able to then get it going in the app and do the necessary firmware updates so all the algos would work the same as the MAX I already had. I think it took less than a day IIRC. Of course I'd already been to their website and had established an account and a password, which is also required to use the app.
You can do it through the app, but you need to be connected to the pedal in question. It's the last option on the main pedal settings screen. 'Deregister stompbox'
You configure the pedal in the app, but you also need to register at the website, so you have a valid account.
