AFAIK Fernandes has not kept good records of previous vintage model basses. The newer ones, mostly after 2000-01 seem to be made in Korea unless otherwise noted. But I do agree this appears to be 99.999 Japanese made. Not absolutely positive. But the Korean ones just don’t have the vibe. The Japanese made ones are by far, the better crafted instruments. All in my humble opinion.
See if he can provide documentation on it. It’s a great way to have as much information on the provenance if you should ever need it.
Hello to all Fernandez fans. First off, I come to you with my condolences due to recent events but also for your wisdom.
I’ve recently discovered this 5 string jazz bass (FJB DLX PCS) that was released around 2017. You can still buy it online but I found one used for 85,000yen. This really seem to suit my style in every way but I have no way of trying it out. Do any of you have any knowledge or experience with this bass ?

I’m not actually buying it from him. I just reached out to him because he specializes in older Japanese basses, and he was able to confirm what I’d been told.
But I also used the catalogue link that someone posted earlier in this thread (I think it was here) and found the bass listed in 1985.

NBD! Saw this for sale for $400 in Japan and had to pull the trigger, even with $200 shipping it’s cool and weird and I dig it.
I had one of these in black a long time ago that I bought while deployed, but I sold it when starting the family before I knew how hard it would be to replace in the future. I swapped the malfunctioning factory preamp with an aguilar obp-3 just for some reliability and hi/low mids. I know this is the TEB-70 or 75MW but I don’t know much else about them than that-no ‘made in japan’ or serial number anywhere I can find-and I had the neck off earlier for a springtime truss rod adjustment (and setup for C tuning with big strings).
Weird things-tuners look factory but rotate backwards. I can’t remember if my old one was that way. Also has a thumbrest and I extended the top button. That black is actually a socket pressed into the body so there’s no chance of snapping the screw off at the body and it does help with neck dive a lot.
Also found out the factory bridge is not only fragile as hell but also impossible to find. Came with a broken saddle and I just broke the baseplate, meaning I had to scrounge for a different saddle setup. These parts box saddles will do until I change out the whole bridge, even if it looks weird because 2 are upside down lol

Well hell. I didn’t expect this thread to be as dead as the brand, itself…I was hoping to learn a little more about the model.
So my tech told me that the trussrod on the 1985 JB-45 that I bought is maxed out. The seller has offered to take the bass back, or cover the cost of a new neck. I like the tone of the bass, so I’d like to keep it if it isn’t going to be a huge hassle.
Does anyone know of a new Player Series Jazz neck will fit without much modification?
Any chance the neck pocket is the same size?
Last thing: if ts a 20 fret neck, it should to be replaced with a 20 fret neck, correct?

Does anyone know if the Fernandes Fender copies, such as a p or j bass, differ much between Limited Edition and Revival? It seems they were both produced at the same time, and shared a lot of features. Some say Limited Edition was a cost effective version of the Revival Range, some say they are actually higher quality than Revival and yet others say, Limited Edition were just different or less vintage period correct.
I had a '83 limited edition P bass and I remeber it sounded very good, especially the pickup, and I wonder if the revival range had the same pickup.

Replacing the neck shouldn't be a problem, although a little bit of sanding might be needed. Not all neck sizes are cut equal.
But to be fair, a 20 fret neck should be directly replaced with another 20 fret neck. If memory serves correct, another neck may require more modification than you're willing to spend.

Is there any diff betwixt the FPM-100 and the MHB-100? I've seen basically that bass under both names!
I reckon just the headstocks are different—pointy on the MHB and traditional on the FPM.
Hmm. I think they ARE the same bass. The two companies are one conglomerate. The lower price seems generous compared to the higher one, but it’s essentially the same seller. I’m such a mark lol. It looks like an awesome bass tho.
