Hi all, my 1st post here.
I own a bass fernandes from the 90s with serial number 032121 made in japan, can you help me out figure out model and year?

I bought it long ago in Hong kong.
Is this bass comparable to a P bass?

Using round strings but thinking to chamge to flat

I put somo photos.

Thanks in advance

Nice bass and it will sound great with any strings of your choosing, even flats. Can't cite the model as-of-yet but the era sounds about right. I'm pretty much resigned to using the same resources as you would have available, namely the archived catalogs embedded within this thread or visible on-line. If feeling particularly bold, the model designation is probably stamped on the neck heel and pocket floor. Don't be surprised if they don't match in entirety as any number of necks and body were "shared" among the various models.

Reverse headstock, medium scale, shell pink - Fernandes PJB-55.

Hi guys, can someone please help me with more info about this bass? There is close to zero information on this when I searched the web. It's supposedly from the 90's, would that be a Made In China bass? It's not a local sale so I wouldn't be able to test it out before making a purchase. Anyone played one of these? Would love to hear from you guys on this. Thanks much!!

I see this bass posted on one of the Facebook groups.

Try posting it on
The “Fernandes - Burny Guitars” Facebook group. Member
Jon Lovstad (and others) are very knowledgeable about the build locations and dates .

Here is the NBD post: NBD - Crusty Fernandes content
interested in selling it ?
Im not sure of the model, year, or origin. The body is similar to the tremor but it is p/j and the rear strap button is in a different spot. The 1996 catalog has one with a similar body but different headstock:

I went through all pages of this thread and did not see a similar one.

Any ideas?

there is one just like this for sale on guitar center right now... btw im in love with your apb 90m. thats a beautiful instrument! if you ever want to sell hmu
  • New used bass day again :D
  • Haven't pulled the neck but it is probably a 90s Fernandes FRB-90 JJ
  • Gotoh 510BR round saddle bridge + Gotoh tuners + FGI technology J-style pickups

I traded my other similar Black Fernandes J/J bass APB-100 to my GC store , Looks like it is currently in the Citrus Park, FL store , Guess a buyer returned it, Think at $649 it priced too high , It played & sounded great , It has the same Gotoh tuners & same cool Gotoh bridge as my APB-90M .. PS my local guitar guy wants the APB-90M , I think he sold it to the original owner back in 1995-1997 at a now closed small guitar store that was a Fernandes dealer back in the day , I think I have the original hard case it came with , Got to play the APB-90M thru a MarkBass 2x10 combo and it sounds so amazing , Nope not for sale

Do any of you Fernandes jazz owners know what the fingerboard radius is for the 90s era jazz basses? I don’t know if the one I have is LEB-1 or LEB-2 (don’t know the difference actually), but the board is pretty flat.

I want to get an under string radius gauge for it.

Hi everyone, I just picked up this passive Fernandes bass for 100 euros. After a major cleaning, it works quite well but I cannot identify the model in the Fernandes catalogs.

I think it's a FRB 40 but I'm not sure. For the year, no model in the catalog is completely similar...
can anyone help me?

Hello,

I'm thinking of purchasing this one but would like to know the model and estimated date of production (is it MIJ?), but there are no serial numbers. The only markings are on the neck? Thanks.

Looks awesome! How does it sounds?
Thanks so much!
Sounds like a P on steroids:):) unfortunately couldn’t try with the band yet, as one of the guitar player had a surgery last month, hopefully in a couple of weeks he will be able to play again.
Construction wise, it feels a solid bass, easy on par with my Spector euro, and it is easier to play as the neck is between the size of a precision and a jazz.
One of the best precision bass that I had ever owned.
I’ll let you know hopefully in a couple of weeks how it sounds in the mix!

Just got my first Fernandez Burny TB65 Thunderbird. I’m really pleased with what a fantastic bass this is, but don’t know much about it. Any idea when it was built?

Sounds great too…

If you’re giving club numbers count me in. Did an in depth write up on this bass today in the Thunderbird club where I’m a very active member. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/thunderbird-club.1056205/page-15609#post-28936720

There's a Fernandes / Burny Group on FaceBook...post it there. They'll dig it plus it's frequented by some real wiz-kids.

Hi,

Do all Japanese made Fernandes have “Made in Japan” somewhere on the instrument?

I’m looking at buying this bass, and was told it’s a 1985, made in Japan, JBR-45. I haven’t seen anything that says “Japan” in the photos that were provided to me.

Would also appreciate any thoughts on the quality of the bass.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
