Hello,
just bought a new Fender Highway 1 Jazz Bass (blonde).
So far it's gorgeous ... but yesterday I saw that the spacing between the strings wasn't equal... Should be no problem as the bridge allows to adjust the space... But, trying to do this I can't manage to have the strings with equal space between them AND to have each string exactly between the pol pieces...
Perhaps "someone" could send a picture or describe which allows me to see which notch (hope this is the right word?) on the bridge is used for each string?
BTW:
- After buying this bass, the product was marked "sold out" and the dealer told me, that he can't order new "Highways".
- I hope I am qualified for a club membership? Which number is available?

I was roaming around GC after last week's GarageBand recording lesson and there were plenty of American "Specials". The goon working the floor said that Highway One's had been replaced by Specials as their introduction American line.
Is ir just a name change or are there spec. differences, too?

You might want to check the Fender Spec page on the AS. It has graphite rods....I know, I have one.

This is My Fender Highway One, Jazz bass after it came back from the Luther, I changed out the tuning keys to Hipshot HB-7's, I changed out the pick-ups to the Fender Custom Shop 60's pick-ups, I changed the bridge to a locking strung through style ( when I acquired the bass, the previous owner removed the BadAss II bridge and sold it for cash, which a lot of folks do, as they can get some pretty high prices on E-Bay ), and installed TI flatwounds, along with a new pickguard, I did keep the "Greasebucket" tone circuit .... all in all, this is a nice sounding Jazz Bass for what I've put into it, these bases are a great starting point if you like to do your own customizing ....

I have a burst highway one p on back order that I should get next week! My only wish is that they made them with maple fretboards too.

How 'bout that Fender B-DEC, back there? It's a hell of a little practice amp. I use mine all of the time at work.

Awesome!!! I finally got my highway one p last week, and love the way it feels! The stock pickups seem really low output compared to my mim p's and I was thinking about putting some fender originals in... How do they compare to the stock pups on your jazz? I'm also considering swapping the BA II for a vintage bridge... Can you tell me what to expect in terms of the difference in sound this will make? I've never used a Badass bridge before, so I'm not sure how it affects the sound. Thanks!

Looking like I may finally be doing so. Its only been 3 years.
They still have the HO's on Musicians Friend in stock. If I weren't in the financial dooldrums I would have one already. Hopefully they will still have them when my situation improves, otherwise I'll be scouring the used adds here.
More complex lower tones, more "wood," less twang, fundamental and sustain...to some extent.
Conceivably more pronounced dead spots.
More "vintage" sound, in other words.
I cordially hate hi-mass bridges on Fenders, but I love the cash people who don't know any better give for them.
