I think you'll be happy. I've never tried an Amplug, but the AC Tone is a great pedal for that price. I end up letting a guitarist in my 60s/Beatles group use it, and it nails the jangle and leads. It does a fair job on bass...def has the low end...I just happen to have a Blue Tube and a JohnK gamma for my amp emulation and overdrive tones in that group.

I made a sound clip with the AC Tone and got some pretty good tones:

I'm thinking of something similar, but I think I'm only gonna use the American with light breakup, more for tone, I just found from this thread a link to reverb.com for the ironman series, that orange juice looks real cool, I'm thinking that might be my first gain stage, UD 2nd since it has a ton of gain into American for small grit and tone

Not sure if this is TB kosher or not (mods please correct me) but I'm trying to unload my collection of Joyos and am willing to make some pretty serious discounts to Joyo club peeps. If someone wants to do me a big favor and buy them all I'll make you a crazy good deal. All great condition, all work, paperwork included. Currently listed in classifieds at $25 each and $12.50 each after the first. I will do better for you guys, and even better if they all go to one home.

I really want to get an American, but i don't need any more pedals (don't need 3/4 of the ones i already have) so i think you should be my guinea pig and pick up a British too and then tell me all the reasons i should have both

Finally got the UD. Tried it through my sound card and it sounds good. Not stellar but good. I'd love it to have a blend control. The low/high switch also doesn't seem to do a lot, even with the tone on high settings - it seems it only makes a slight change in the upper mid content.Will try on my rig soon.
Overall, for 30 bucks it was definitely worth it.

It doesn't need a blend control, the gain control goes from clean to dirty very well....plus it's quite dynamic, play harder for more grit. I think this pedal needs some kind of EQ or re work of the tone knob frequencies to my ears. The pedal is voiced and I'd personally want to dial that out. Maybe a Joyo 6 band eq after it?

The clean tone is quite thin though. And a blend is a different thing, I usually like to have lots of gain with a little clean signal blended in. Probably what I need though is a portable mixer and blend in all sorts of stuff like Ric5 does.
What I don't like is that there is virtually no difference between 11.00 and 5.00 on the gain knob. It becomes a little more saturated but it doesn't add character. I'll reserve further judgement when I try it on the rig though.

There really are better ways to clean blend. That setup is a little clunky.

they're two completely different animals (completely different circuits). the Runoffgroove Britannia (AC30 emulator) doesn't retain the low end anywhere near like the British does.

I've done clean blend with a small 4-channel mixer like Ric5, it sounded great, but I had to be really careful with settings, if one or two knobs/sliders were off the signal sent to the amp would be extremely hot, which resulted in thermal shutdowns. Even taping everything down so it couldn't move I still had issues. So I'm building a proper buffered blend pedal. I can post some updates here when it's done.
