Official Joyo Club Part 2: Beyond Thunderclone

I like my UD only with my passive bass wth P/J pickups. I was playing with a two humbuckers passive bass and I didn't found a right gain setting. Too much gain for the mix.. and when i turned the gaindown, too much clean. Anyways , a good sounding pedal for the money.

Anyone using an American with an active MM-style bass (Ray, Sterling etc)? How does it sound with that type of instrument?

I gigged with the AD as a preamp, run reasonably clean with a bit of dirt, and a Blower Box for heavier gain - gave me tight low end, big high & low mids, and enough treble to cut through. That was using a passive Precision. Got a complement from the venue owner for the 'growl' my sound had, and he's usually very picky about instrument sounds.

AD was into the effects loop of a GK MB500, into an Ampeg 8x10, no PA support - amp volume up around 3/4s, AD level a bit past noon, plenty loud enough with a heavy drummer and a guitarist into a 4x10. May be a push for bigger venues, but I was surprised it managed it so easily.

Yes it strange, because it's one of the most popular one in the bassists club.
By the way, as I have now the VT and the American plugged on my pedal board, I used them to have 2 separate tones : one for pick playing (the American) and the VT for finger playing. Easy to set both of them, and easy to switch from one to the other.
And so I was figuring that, for a lower cost than the VT Bass Deluxe I could buy 6 Joyo preamps and have the same amount of possible settings but with different flavours due to the models I could choose !! I will not do that, but thinking of it is fun, no ?

I really love its tone. It sounds clearer than the VT bass, I feel. And I have less troubles setting the highs with it.
If I had to keep only one of them I should keep the American.

I'm on my way to having them all. :) I plan on getting a California next.

Finally got my finger out and ordered the American. Got abut 15 mins with it yesterday, will get some more today. 1st impression is good! Not sure if it will knock my VT Bass off the board, but if I keep both, one will be for subtle and the other for heavier OD. MXR BOD may have to go... Can´t wait for our next full rehearsal :)

But I do need to replace the crappy Beringers and I think Ill go Joyo there. Not much on the Dyna Comp to be found, but hopefully its better than the DC9. Joyo Chorus? Classic or Analog?
