If your after an octave, look elsewhere. The Voodoo is a good fuzz, whit an octave up addition, which only works together with the fuzz.
duuuuuuude....that american looks sweeet.... man I love putting a dirt in front of a old school dr q for les claypool-ish nasties.... ooh yeah... I am gonna have to take apart my Joyo's and get 0n that... these things just look too bad ass!!!! and thirty bucks?
UD sounds great... Man... I live it when drummers can rock the sh$t out of a small kit.....
So, thoughts on the ultimate octave. This pedal rocks! Once I made room for it on the pedal board I fired up my rig and almost immediately was able to dial in some very useable fuzz tones. Seriously this thing gets hairy! It does seem to lose some bass, but not enough to concern me. I tend to use a very bright, upper-mid heavy tone and this thing excelled with it. Admittedly this is the only "fuzz" I've had, but I've had a lot of overdrive and distortion pedals.
I didn't have much time to play with it, but at practice the singer and guitar player both noticed immediately that something sounded "brutal." IMO that's as good a comment as a fuzz can get.
Now for the octave up part of the pedal, I'm really not sure I see a use for that yet. I don't really have an idea what I would expect out of it, but it's just not doing anything for me. Maybe it'll grow on me as I experiment more.

My guitarist uses one. I tried it out. We both agree the octave up sucks on guitar and bass. Personally I like the fuzz tone but it lost too much low end for me. Blended or paired with an EQ it could be a lot better though. Glad you are digging it.

I did bump the lows a bit on my eq pedal when i was using it, low end loss was negligible in the mix. I was curious if the octave up would do anything for guitar, guess that answers my question!
I own the Ultimate Drive and was thinking of getting the American and running some Fender drive through my Mesa Big Block and Ampeg SVT II. I also thought I could run my Darkglass B3K into the American and see how it works out. I have a guitar player friend who may sell his to me for cheap. Has anyone paired the American with a high gain distortion and had good results? I usually run the B3K as a 'pushed amp' sound. I run it close to the suggested settings from Darkglass for the pushed tube amp sound with more dirt.
Well, I did it. It took me most of the night and my back hurts like hell, but I did it and I don't think I broke anything.
I started out just intending to steel wool it all off and just have a straight metal enclosure, but after I got started I thought it would look cooler this way.

Thinking of doing a similar thing to my UD and leaving bits and pieces of the face poking through.
I thought of taking steel wool to the UD and painting it flat red, but that is just awesome.
If you're talking about running a high gain od into a low gain American, that's exactly what I do with my blower box. Quite happy with the result. The American is pretty much my amp sim before the DI.
+1 to this, the American does a great job of handling high gain pedals if you're using it as a preamp. Now if you're talking about stacking it as an overdrive, there's only one way to find out how it sounds!
Refinished my American last night, pretty happy with how it turned out.
