I find the american sweeter and it keeps the low end a bit clearer compared to the vt bass when overdriven.
To me the overdrive sounds less agressive and less clanky when playing the highs.
Otherwise tone setting is in the same spirit with the voice knob acting like the character of the vt except the range of frequencies is lower.

After many tries I decided to use my american as an overdrive that I send to my vt bass set on a low gain value.
The 2 combined sound very nice, so I guess that the american combined to a SVT head should work well too.

I´m doing the same thing. Into an Ampeg PF350 and SVT210AV cabs. Just got a second cab, stacked vertically, for last band rehearsal. Finally I could really hear every detail of my own sound with the band and the American into the VT really shines. Not a huge fan of the OD I can get from my amp. The VT is good. The American is different, but with the voice and eq you can really get some sweet sounds.

Its not at all what i thought it would be like.
But thats my fault not the pedal.
Its a good pedal but id rather get my money back which i cant.
I was thinking more of sansamp or vt pedal sounding but it isnt.
I just find it unimpressive.
If a fellow canadian in southern ontario wants one id be willing to part with it.

I had the same experience with the British. But it took me several sessions of messing with it to find certain tones that would eventually work for me. The knobs work with each other in the slightest of detials so the pedal takes some real fine tweaking. I would say give it a few more attempts before you right it off. Or ask people to share there settings and you can try those out to give you a starting point then you can tweak from there.

Well it's a clone of the Sansamp Blonde. It actually sounds better to me than the Blonde. If you were looking for an ampeg tone you should of never bought one in the first place.

Not an ampeg tone but just the crispy around the edges tone.
When ive used a sansamp i always preferred the Fender Bassman setting
Just hate the mid suck on them

Play with the bottom three knobs on it a bit more. A good balance of volume gain and voice can yield a variety of different sounds.

The key is to find the good combination between the voice and the drive. It defines how will be the sound. Then play de with the 3 upper knobs to eq.
As an overdrive I have almost the same settings except the mids at 2 o'clock and the drive at 1 o'clock. It gives something not too much coloured with a nice edge on the mids.

Just fell back in love with my UD. Sounds great in the mix, and just hairy enough! Plus, when feeding my Blower Box, it gets nasty! Beat out my beloved DOD 250, which is being relegated to secondary board.
