So I just put the hangers up in my new basement office/music room this evening after work....this room is fully sound insulated and has a 8 x 2 set at the right height for hanging basses! For once I planned!!!

That Natural JO5 look so good there! I hate to see it go.....

My kids were all at events tonight so my wife and I had a very rare date (alone).....during dinner she said that that was one of her favorite looking basses so I hate to see it go...but it has to!

BTW - the hangers are the Hercules hangers that "grip" the neck...I felt the safest with those...GC only had 3 with the wood "bases" so 3 are wood and the other 3 have the std metal "base".....I staggered them for continuity!

Nice to see all of my basses at once and not have to constantly move them around!!!!

Thanks! That's a 1966 B-15N on the left -- the tube combo amp that the B200r is styled after.

how does the ebony board sound???? Dan thinks they sound "brittle".....

Thanks! I owned a 55-02 with LH3 for a time, and traded it away (for the JO5!) because I thought the treble was too harsh, and despite my best efforts I could never get the bass to sound "passive." I play in a big soul band and it just wasn't working.

This 55-94 has the older Bart system. I'm not sure how much the ebony board contributes to the sound, but I am much happier with the availability of tones on this bass. The treble end is crisp, but more manageable for me -- it's a lot easier to dial in tones that work for my ears.

Tonally, swamp ash vs the mahogany/CHI pairing of the Decades specifically, if you've played a mahogany Decade...

How do the neck pickup compare between the decade and the 4-07? I thinking in the low warm round sound? I ask, because while they are the same pups, the placement is very different.

My Decade is alder, and haven't played a mahogany one. Hard to compare the woods because the pickup placement is so different.

To my ears, the Decade gives you a throatier P bass sound with both pickups on full. The neck pickups soloed...the Decade is HUGE, but the 4-07 fights back because it can go into humbucker mode. I'm picturing a grudge match between the two...too funny! In the end, they're different. The Decade has singles and is passive, and alder. the 4-07 is humbucker/singles, active/passive, and swamp ash. The 4-07 is single mode doesn't quite sound the same as the all singles in the Decade.

Passive Skyline 5501 with Chi's? is it possible?
