I've been posting that screencap for about 2 years now, and you must be the first person on TB to recognize where it's from. :eek:
Regardless of age, there are just some things that I doubt I'll ever grow out of! :p

Anyways, I'd best be channeling my GAS energies towards my DJ4 now. This is one LOG bass I'll have to pass on.

My typical signal chain is the bass into an ART Tube preamp, then to the head, and using either one or two SWR Workingman's 2x10 cabs, or a 1x15 and 2x10 cab depending on the band/venue. I've had success with dialing in a moderate amount of the enhance knob, which cuts some of the low mids but also boosts the highs and lows. I usually end up rolling the master bass control off a little bit after this adjustment and it cleans things up nicely, and frees up a bit more headroom. I was experimenting with the parametric EQ as well to cut some of the mud out (300-500 Hz depending), but the enhance seemed to clean things up pretty well for me. I head to the onboard EQ for a touch of extra mids if necessary to tighten things up after the fact. The good thing is that everything is pretty easily cleaned up without excessive EQ. Naturally, the 44-02 flat into the board is beautiful. Anyway, what are other Eden + Lakland 44-02/4-94 players using for settings? I'd like to at least have a benchmark for comparison.

I have an AMB 500 EVO II that I got off of TBer 1kinal. I lucked out, both my Ashdown ABM components are UK-made.

The head sounds terrific with the cab. Sort of British-invasion-y, but in a modern way. I think that Ashdown stuff sounds best when used with other Ashdown stuff.

i ahve a 55-02 and a wt-400 / 2x ht112 and having been slowly experimenting with tone. my current tone is similar to yours. i have enhance knob around 10 o'clock and some mid cut around 300.

anyway, there is the sound i like when playing alone, which is definitely scooped. and then there is the sound that works best in the band. one of my gtr's loves his thick warm sound that turns me to mud. i have been talking to him about it for 2 yrs to not much avail. that is why i have been trying lots of different eq'ing. for better or worse the eden's allow for lots o' possibilities. i currently believe my eq (oh, with a slight bump in the mid-100's) seems to work best.

so there are lots o' factors to consider. i also use flats. and then there is where you set the mid freq control in the lakie....

Yeah, I'm with you on the whole bedroom vs live gig EQ disparity. What I'm dealing with now is that I find when I rely too much on the mids I end up sounding more aggressive than punchy, and I don't need aggressive for any of the music I play. I actually don't prefer a scooped tone, even for solo playing... must have been all that Jaco I listened to in my early years.

Sounds like we're close with the enhance knob settings... I know most guys hate the thing like the plague, but it seems to smooth things out and offer a new palette to tweak from. I'm just getting settled in with Eden heads after being an SWR guy for most of my playing years. Thanks for your input!

Panda - Jauqo may even deliver it to you and teach you how to play it.....how many fingers to Pandas have BTW? I think I heard that they have 6 - that should allow you to handle a 5 banger with ease!!!
