Looks like it's big and fat enough to fit in nicely, almost anywhere in that general area and not leave a hole.

Your new Lakies all look so beautiful, guys. GodDAMN! Especially that DJ with maple blocks. The one I'm still looking forward to most is E.'s Sonic Blue, though. :D
I'm anxiously awaiting that one as well.

I really need your help, guys.
I'm thinking of installing new pickups in my Sky DJ. The main reason being I was bitten by the Marcus Miller bug and need 70's pickup locations.
I'm reading that the Single-coil Chi-Sonics can be housed in the bigger Humbucker covers.
When I compared my DJ to my JO, the DJ's bridge pickup was closer to the bridge than the JO by a noticeable amount. I don't remember the measurement. But, at the GTG, Doug, Randy, and myself broke out the tape measure and checked. There is a difference.

The singles can be housed in the larger casing as on the decade.
Sorry, but I'll be stealing your pics, E. Are these up to scale?

it's all good. I believe they are to scale.

Well, the BG5 body is officially on its way to Roger for the pick guard routing, and then on to paint... and I am officially bass-less for at least two weeks (OUCH!!!!)
Still deciding on the color, but leaning towards a couple of options (many of you will be relieved to know they are all translucent). Might just stay silent on the final choice, but definitely open to suggestions over the next week ;)

yea, man. the body is routed for it:

I'm wondering how they'll fit the pickguard and j-retro, but it's gonna be cool either way.

just double checking...all the talk about single coils and humbucker covers was confloosing. :ninja:

it does look like its gonna be a close fit. i'm curious to see how it turns out and no exceptions on this one...you MUST post sound clips (more than just the lesson of the month. :) )

If I have to go without a pickguard, I can live. I'll get some clips of the fretless DJ this weekend or next week. I just need to get a better webcam. Any suggestions?

EDIT: I don't know if everyone will dig the tone on the fretless, but I really really do. I like the flats with the chi-sonics. I can get a deep roll on the neck and some bite from the bridge with quite a bit in between. Markus wasn't lying about these pickups.

Man - what a week!!!!

Left for LA last Tuesday to teach a class - was going to spend a "leisurely" day prepping but at the last minute I had to do an inspection on Tuesday evening......

Spent MOST of Wednesday prepping and them teaching Th-Sunday......

got home LATE (midnight) on Sunday and the last 2 days have been "fun" catching up!!!!

had hoped to get some TB time in last week but could not.....

I hear there was a search party planned....I am SURE it was something like this one:

We'll - let's see with 20 pages of Part 20 - I may just ignore the rest of 19!!!

her goes nothing!!!!:hyper:

OK, I'm not gonna be Markus and keep everyone in suspense. It was a very difficult choice. Part of me wanted to make it ABSOLUTELY my bass, and do it like this...
But ultimately decided on THIS look...
