+1.. I don't even mess with the gain and/or unplug... I just turn the volume down on the bass... takes care of the DI and the stage amp. Since I always run my bass volume wide open, this assures that my stage volume is the same from set to set.

I used to have the BagEnd S15X-D and used it with my CMD121p. I sold it because of the weight and got me a MB 102p 2X10 cab instead. You may be surprised but to me the 102p sounds better than the BagEnd. It has plenty of lows combined with the combo's 12 speaker but also some great low mid punch that the BagEnd never had. Much lighter, it is a great extension cabinet for small combos.
I have to admit though that the coaxial titanium compression driver on the Bag End sounded much better than the piezo on the MB cabs.

I recommended trying the BE with the combo because he already has it.

I think actually the 'flatness' we all talk about with the LMII is actually driven by the voicing of the preamp. I believe most SS power sections are reasonably flat throughout their range. For example, even though the AI stuff sounds very 'voiced' to me... lots of mids, polite top end, etc., which you bybass the pre, it sounds as wide, punchy and even as any other amp.

The beauty of the LMII IMO is that you really don't need extra EQ or pre's etc. (assuming you want a relatively clean, relatively 'accurate' tone), and you don't have to twist a lot of knobs to even out the response of any sort of 'pre voicing' built in by the designer.

Agreed.

Just nice to know that if I want to get a different sound, (like Trace Elliot for example) I dont have to pony-up for a power amp. This is pure conjecture at this point as I've never tried using my LMII as a poweramp... yet. :)

Curious to see the tonal difference between running a pre from the front end input versus plugging into the effects loop.

I mentioned a little while ago that the Markbass amp bags had started popping up at GC. I can't remember if anybody had put up any pics, so I thought I would post. Its vented on the "bottom" so that you don't have to take it out of the bag to use it and that is great, but I wouldn't want to transport it like that when its raining. Often though I will have it in a larger bag with my tuner and a pedal, so that part won't be so bad. And even though I had been carrying it in that larger duffel before, I feel more comfortable knowing that its in a case while inside that bag.

Nice quality bag. I think that side vent thing has kept many of us from taking the plunge on one of those for the reason you mentioned. They would be much better off making that a standard bag... not many would have a problem taking the head out of the bag prior to use, while many of us don't see the holes in the side of the bag as a positive for protection (which is what a bag should be all about IMO).

That is quite different from the Markbass LMII bag I had for a short while. The one I owned had a yellow interior and a different top pocket I think. Your's seems nicer.
