To be fair I was running 2 high output basses, but volume difference on each detent is ridiculous. As an example my Genz Benz NEO PAK 3.5 would have been running out of steam at last nights volume while the Orange was cruising at 7:30 master.

So that brings up the question, is that the nature of this amp or could mine actually be defective? I can't believe I am complaining, but there actually venues where I may not be able to use this head unless I run low output basses or just a 115 cab at 8 ohms? Large venues and Casinos would be no problem.

4 Stroke owners feel free to give me your impressions because I am seriously thinking about trying to return it. Don't really want to, but the Terror Bass can handle any gig that comes up big or small while my 4 Stroke could actually be too much for certain gigs.

Oh yeah, the shirts table was placed by the venue to separate us from the crowd for COVID19 restrictions.

Not bringing any politics into it but I am just amazed your part of the world is back to having live gigs. I am in Victoria (AUS) and as of June 22nd we can have up to 50 people in an enclosed space however that still requires each person to have a 4sqm barrier meaning a 100sqm venue can only have 20 people max anyway. Most of the venues around here aren't even re-opening as that number includes the band, security, bar staff etc...

Best of luck to you. I do definitely miss gigging and hearing live music :(

I don't think it's defective. From what I hear, they are loud and each detent is perceivably louder than the one before, possibly because they have no gain knob. So yeah, maybe just one cab for a small gig.

Thank you. I didn't think it was defective either, but I had to throw it out there. I have another gig coming up this Saturday so I'll probably try it again with just 1 OBC115 and a lower output bass and see how that fairs. I can only imagine it will work out really well at this location.

Finally got a chance to get the new pair of 210 mini cabs set up and some play time with the new 4-stroke 300.
I was surprised at the headroom the 4stroke 300 has compared to My OB1-500, not much difference in output volume.
OB1 can get much dirtier but the 4 stroke has a wider range of tones.

The only other orange cabs I own at the time being are 2 of the OBC212 isobaric cabs paired with my Ad200, which sound great.
The 210 minis sound very clear and punchy and very controllable.

The 212 and 210 cabs together are great sounding together at least to my ear.

One of my preamp tubes went microphonic lately. The tube was an Orange factory original from 2004.
I tested several preamp tubes and settled on two Tung-Sol 12AX7 which I thought sounded really good for this amp. They add a little grind and are focused where it matters frequency wise. As a second contender the Sovtek 12AX7 LPS (long plate tube) in V1 paired with a Tung-Sol also sounded great but introduced a bit of unwanted finger noise. I thought I would share my observations for those needing to retube an Orange AD200B MKIII.

Not big into clubs but here's my garage (my wife won't let me bring this into the house) and louder gig rig.

Hey official Orange lovers, hmm something doesn't sound right about that but anyways, I was wondering if there's a way to hook my TB500 to another amp so I can run 2 amps, one on each side of the stage. I have 2 of the OBC112 speakers right now and to tell the truth probably never need to do this but I have toyed with the idea, especially for out side gigs.. I have a Ampeg BA210 combo amp and Ampeg 210 speaker cab. Would love to send the awesome sound of the TB500 through that amp. I also have an Ampeg 115 cab so if I really needed to push more air I could use the 210 and 115 instead of my OBC112 speakers but to have 2 amps, boom!! The only way I can see would be to use the balanced out and convert that to a 1/4 jack or use the effect loop out. I see some of you use multiple amps so thought I would ask. Thank you!!

Can't say I've done it yet as I'm waiting on mine to show up, but yeah, I have the impression/expectation I should be able to use the DI out to drive another amp. My plan would be to use it into the line in on my Power Station 2. I'd expect it to work out best using a balanced line input on the "slave" amp.

I'm kinda talking out of an inappropriate orifice on this though as I haven't tried it yet.

I don't know about the TerrorBass, but usually the DI output isn't taken too far into the amp's signal chain (so it doesn't usually capture the tone of the amp). I'd probably try running the Effects Send to the second amp's Effects Return (or perhaps the Input jack) first before using the DI.
