Yup, I mucked that one up. Sorry. I think it is fixed now without messing up anyone's signature.

Another pic of the SP410. The Sp212 will be here in less than a week.

No worries. That being said, any one else excited about the terror bass combos coming soon? I talked to the guys at my local shop a week or so ago, and they have one on the way and would call me when it was there so I could go try it out. Im pretty sure I'll be happy with the tone, but am curious about price point. Any ideas or rumors floating around?

But looking seriously at buying one from Bass Central - really want the SP 4x10 - (like the weight, the look) and either an AD200 or a New terror - (500 watts doesn't make sense if the 1000 watt is out). But a couple of questions:

1) Would (2) Orange 1x15's accomplish more than an SP4x10, do to the larger face of Speaker output 30 vs. 20 square inches? (I have heard from the other chains that an Isobaric 4x10 is just a 2x10 on steroids better bass response than a 2x10 but not the overall volume of a 4x10)

2) Anyone really have an opinion on the AD200 vs. the Terror - if they are using the same pre-amp? Meaning all tube is great in Ampeg but I am unsure in Orange..... I only ask becuase the SVT's I had and got rid of (95lbs) I replaced the sound with Sansamp Drivers pretty easily......

Currently I use a Mark Bass 2x10 and a 1x15 - Shuttle 6.0 for live - LMII 1x12 for recording and a GK Neo 1x12 w/ Shuttle 6.0 in the practice space - I would like to replace with Orange equip - any comments would be greatly appreciated... really looking for input here - thank you. JPJ's sound is what I am after......

So I'm trading my GK stack over for an Orange stack. I'm definitely getting the Terror 500 head, but I'm stuck between getting either 2 SP410's or 2 OBV-115's.

How do two 115's sound compared to the 410's? I want something punchy for sure, but something that you can feel each individual note, and hear it nice and clear.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:bassist:

IME, the sp410 is just as loud as a standard 410. We were rehearsing last night and a bunch of people gathered at the warehouse and were surprised at the sound that was coming out of a tiny 210-looking cabinet. They thought I was hiding another cab somewhere else!this thing really moves a lot of air and really has a dynamic range.

Have you tried the sp212?

I'm looking into getting an all-orange rig.

Right now my rig is an Ampeg SVT-CL and Ampeg 410HLF. This rig is only "ok" for me. Problems are too much boominess from the 410 HLF and the SVT head weighs so much (especially in a road case)!! I do really like an SVT with 810 but it's just too big for me at this point (maybe when I have roadies).

The Orange sounds great and seems to be a bit more manageable than the SVT, but I'm not sure what cabs to get with it.

The cab options I've thought about are:

1) OBC 115 and OBC 410. This seems like the "standard" stack and I've done a gig with this and loved it. The only drawback for me is that the 410 weighs 95lbs. That gets to be such a drag loading in and out of vans at 3am. But I do know that this combination gets all the lows and highs and just sounds full and nice.

2) Two OBC 115s. I've never tried this. Looks a bit more manageable weight-wise. I do really like the sound of the 115 by itself even sounds very good. Would two of these get to be too much low end?

3) OBC 115 and SP410. I've never heard the SP410. Has anyone tried this combo?

Also, I notice that none of the Orange cabs have wheels. How do you handle this? Add wheels? Get a cart? Or just carry the darn things?

Thanks.

The tone would be quite different. The SP410 is big, deep, full and rich, but not as much going on in the upper mids compared to the 115. Personally, I'd rather gig with two of the 1x115's, but I can see where others might prefer the SP410.

The Terror Bass 500 can certainly capture the tone of the AD200, but the feel is a bit different. I have at least two sets of videos demonstrating the Terror Bass versus the AD200 up on our YouTube channel (see link in my sig line). I should add that we have recently tested the Terror Bass 500, and it is a very impressive and very loud "micro" head that should be well worth consideration. But, if you really crave what power tubes bring to the table, then the AD200 is tough to beat.

I'd go with the OBC-115's if you want more clarity, but still lots of punch.

As you can see, there are differing opinions on a 115 or 410. It's really up to you and you should try them out if you get the opportunity. I've personally used a few 115's and noticed too much low end for my tastes. I'm very happy with the the SP410 despite some bad reviews from users (not loud enough, sounds more like a 210 on steroids, etc.), however I've experienced quite the opposite. YMMV, but opinions are what you wanted. Good luck on finding that JPJ tone!

How would the OBC115 and a SP410 sound compared to a 2x OBC115's?
I can tell there is a lot of love for the obc115's. I'm just worried that the 115 won't produce enough high's and will get muddy sounding. I hope I can find a store near me that carries these cabs so I can test them out.

Keep in mind also about stacking issues. I had the same problem (410 + SP212), so I'm going to sell the 212 since I already purchased another SP410 to simplify stacking. The SP410 definitely gives me more "highs" and I like the fact that it DOESN'T come with a tweeter. That's just how I like it, but YMMV.
