Noticed a few small things on the listing- The hardware isn't Hipshot. The tuners are generic Gotoh-type.... all Hipshot tuners have exposed gears. I believe the bridge is ABM, like on the Cirrus. AFAIK, only the Mills and Custom shop Cirri had Hipshot bridges. They look similar, but Hipshot bridges have intonation screws, ABM bridges do not. Not a huge deal, but figured I'd throw that out there.

I think youre right about the bridge. Ill update that the tuners are hipshot tho because I swapped them out for hipshot licensed ultralights. Appreciate the info thi

I happen to prefer Gotoh and even Gotoh "style" tuners over Hipshots. I think they are smoother.

And he just traded his RIC to you for it and then sells it on the cheap? Have you had that 4003 checked out?

I think he regretted the trade and is just trying to get some quick cash from it now
rick seems legit, i ran the serial number and everything on the rick site, def seems real

Oh no, I wasn't referring to it not being legit.....I was worried that it may be hiding gremlins. You said in one of your posts that it needed a setup. I don't expect serious problems with a 4003, but I picked up a 4001 not long ago that had such a weak neck at the front pickup route, that the saddles couldn't be lowered enough to make it somewhat playable. And I thought all it needed was a setup. ...Wrong!
Anyway hope it works out for you. I may give another 4001 a try or maybe a mid '80s 4003. I understand those have nice thin necks. I'm a ittle leery of vintage RICs right now over that last one.

nah its fine actually, he just liked his action reallllly low so it buzzed a bit (some people like that I guess) Raised the saddles a bit and its a beauty

Picked one up over the weekend. The stock bridge replaced with a Hipshot .687 which dropped right in. Much easier to adjust compared to the stock ABM. Excellent bass. In case anyone wants to replace theirs I'll attach the pdf from Hipshot so you can measure it. The .687 mounting holes are in the same exact place as the stock bridge. Also, this replacement is brass vs aluminum original one.

Count me in! Picked this one up last summer via Craigslist (my toddler insisted on getting in on the act).

OEM electronics to come, a previous owner equipped it with an EMG setup that I'm not completely fond of. I should straighten out that bridge while I'm at it, though I'm nervous to see under there to determine how it got that crooked.

not to open up a can of worms, but for all those who said the peavey gv is as good or better than a modulus, I don't get it. I finally got a modulus and altho the GV is one hell of a bass, it does not compare. I do miss mine tho!

To each his own. The Q5 in this pic was mine. I sold it. I now have five GV basses. I prefer them. The good news is that we're both correct in our opinions.

Yep to each their own. Just curious as to what about the gv you like more than the quantum's? Is it the electronics? The feel?
