I can't find the site to the one that isn't the tuneguitars.com, the one that's mostly in an asian script..i believe that site is the japanese one, and the tuneguitars.com is the korean/worldwide one...

as far as buying one of them off of ebay that the guy was asking about, does the auction say which model it is?

If you got it from Sam Ash then it's definitely a Korean one, but hey, if it's good, who cares where it was made?

The one on eBay is curious. I am thinking it's a Korean one but I am not sure.

I would love to try one of those Bass Maniac basses out one day (Japanese or Korean). I wonder how they compare to Ibanez Soundgears.

It looks to me as if the current Japanese made guitars either have "Tune Guitar Maniac" or nothing on the truss rod cover and a T with a circle logo on the headstock. How long that has been the case is another question...

Looking on sites such as TCGakki, Ikebe, Digimart, and the like, all the Tunes that I have come across have "Tune Guitar Technology" on them. However most of these are used basses. The basses shown on Tune Japan's website don't seem to have a TRC, or if they do the writing on them is unreadable (as you cannot zoom in on the image). I have checked their gallery but the majority of the basses do not have TRCs, and those that do either are blank pearloid, or have some kind of writing on them, but again, I cannot zoom in. I want to say they still say "Tune Guitar Technology" on them, but I do not know.

hmmm a pdf catalog that was linked on their man page had the bass maniac in it, but with a different model number, only 4 string, and with 24 frets, whereas mine has 25...

the japanese ones look NICE...

i also cant' tell if any of them say guitar technology on them

I love walking into a gig or a music store and opening the case of my TUNE,the looks and comments I get are priceless. What is it? Looks like a knock-off (of WHAT I don't know). Never heard of 'em (That's because it's not a Fender Gibson, or Ibanez). I guess I just like having something that no one else in the area has.

Old Japanese Tunes from the '90s usually had "Tune Guitar Technology" printed on the truss rod cover, and sometimes on the pickups as well. Current MIJ basses say "Tune Guitar Maniac" on the truss rod cover, but may still have "Tune Guitar Technology" printed on the pickups. Or neither. It has never been totally consistent.

The quickest way I know to tell the difference is the fingerboard. Most (if not all) of the Korean basses have rosewood fingerboards, and most of the Japanese ones have ebony boards. The Sam Ash basses are Korean.

I've seen couple of cases. Some (rare) of them were original with TUNE signature. Some of them were (like mine) just GC or other generic replacement.

Do you have any idea how to get Japanese or Korean TUNE case?

Korean TUNE web has this one:

Now, that Korean web does not look very secure and trustworthy to me.

What to do? Any ideas?

I'm using "Roto's"... .45-.100 I havent had any probs with them.

My "Cassie" is a 2005(S05...serial no.) I too got mine from Sam Ash. Sam Ash "could not" give the "Tune basses" away with a..."Buy Fender bass,get a "Tune" bass free! It was "crazy"! Guys were looking and "laughing" at them saying..."They probably cant hold a tune". I had did my homework on them before S.A. got them,and when they arrived...i couldnt believe it! They had a sweet "burl" 5-er,a few "flame" and a few "blacks". I played all of them,but strangely...one of the black Tunes was hittin on all cylinders. I put it in the lay-away...and when i would make a payment on her,the price kept comming "down&down". I got her for a "stupid" price(new in the box.) The rest of them wouldnt sell,so they shipped the others to another store(out of state.) P.S...What's my "Tune" club number???

Well, glad to hear you have that bass.

As for the numbers, the OP has definitely disappeared. I guess I can do numbers if people are fine with it.

Thanks for the info.

Tell me, is it possible to buy a used Tune from a place such as TCGakki, Ikebe, etc or do I need some kind of middleman to carry out the transaction? Since you are affiliated with Tune I thought you would know.
