No. My post means I found in this MIK Tune a fantastic deal in a great sounding, great playing bass.

It also means exactly what it says. The tree has no idea what the decal on the headstock says.

And so one bass may sound better than another regardless of decal.

I have a magic plank. It came on a bass that had a Squier decal. It is now combined with a magic neck, same decal.

Although people are getting snotty about these SQ basses, the reason I was able to afford them is they were despised.

The same decal that got them despised now gets them anxiously asked about regarding collector value.

If that doesn't say what a crock the whole decal thing is, nothing does.

well yes, that's true.
a lot of basses have ash bodies, maple necks and rosewood fingerboards. nothing fancy one would say.
and still, the TUNE i have sounds amazing, compared to the boring sounding lot that nearly made me think i hate ash bodies and maple necks. haha

I've got a rare black '91 MIJ Bass Maniac 5 lefty, TB model that came with Alembic pups, which I replaced with Barts & replaced the original bridge with a Schaller roller type so I could get tighter spacing at the bridge. Had it 20 yrs now n it still plays sweet. Can I get a number if someone is still doing that? If not I'll claim #61 unless it's taken or way too high. Will post some pics if I can find any as the bass is currently in storage.

i just got myself a TUNE TWB4. it has aflame maple top. i remember seeing a japanese made TUNE BASS MANIAC in a guitar shop in belfast in the late eighties and loved the look. mine however as most on this subject will know is a korean made 2006 model and the plastic protective covering was still on the control cavity cover and truss rod cover. i picked this bass up in a secondhand shop here in belfast. i wasnt out looking for another bass as i already have an ernie ball musicman and a p bass,however when i played this bass i had to have it. the last time i played a bass that had that piano like tone it had a big price tag. can anyone shed some light on price guide. doesnt seem to be a lot of info out there on these basses all i know is i aint put mine down since i got it. it is in absolutely mint mint mint condition...once i gave it a good clean and string change. p.s can i join your club please lol...cheers and hope someone can shed some light on rough price guide or what this bass retails/retailed at thanx

hi, i have just aquired a twb 43 and its like nothing else i have ever played...i absolutely love it. anyway i am replacing the plastic knobs with nice gold ones so if u want you can have my plastic ones. my headstock logo was missing also but im getting an identical one made cheers gary

Why? Because I am reading posts on this board how people are totally or partially unhappy with their brand-name instruments. And I know - THERE IS NO UNHAPPY TUNE OWNERS!

You're not alone anymore. This bass has found it's way to Sweden as well. I bought the pig in a poke, and I'm very disappointed:crying:

I don't think it's a prototype, and I don't think it's crafted in Japan. All the parts on my bass seem original and can be found on the link below. My guess is that it's Korean. The bass seems to be an older and simpler version of the Supernova ZI. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I'm afraid I can't give a rave review. The neck is bent at the 10th fret (quite sharp, not a normal curvature) and impossible to adjust with the truss rod. I've never come across a wooden neck this hard. It's almost as stiff as my aluminium Kramer. I have to find a (cheap) way to get it straight. Except for this major flaw, the wooden parts seem to be of good quality and crafted fairly nice. The hardware is cheapish Korean stuff from WooSung Chrous Industries. To my taste, the "LJF" pickups don't sound good wired in series (no treble at all, and not a nice p-bass sound either). They sound OK in parallell, either as is or the two outermost coils (j-bass sound) or the two innermost coils (MM-type of sound). If I can get the neck straight I'm going to rewire it like this.
