Hola, desde España, acabo de adquirir mi primer Tune en tienda, me dicen que probablemente no haya muchos nuevos por las tiendas Europeas. Tiene pegatina "Made in Japan" y número "1034" impreso en el clavijero. Adjunto fotos. No encuentro catálogos donde venga este modelo para ver sus especificaciones (año de fabricación, maderas, previo...). He descargado alguno de los vínculos que ponéis pero la mayoría ya no funcionan. ¿Alguien me ayuda? Gracias.

Hey everyone, I'm looking to custom order a bass from Japan. I'm curious how Tune basses stack up against other high-end Japanese brands like STR, Sugi, Bossa, Momose/Bacchus Atlansia, Dragonfly, or Atelier Z. How do they compare in terms of build quality and playability? Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!

My Japanese isn't very good, but from what I gathered it's either a Tune custom shop bass, a side-project by one of the luthiers working for the Tune custom shop, or just a random custom bass inspired by Tune(?). Other than some similarity in body shape and features, I cannot find anything like this made by Tune. Nothing except the Bart XTCT preamp is branded, but it looks like Gotoh Tuners, a Lace Alumitone PU and a Fishman Powerbridge?
Other Specs:
Maple/Purpleheart Body
Maple/Rosewood Neck
37" Scale
36 Frets
2 jacks for piezo only and piezo + lace pickup.

But they were bolt-on necks, had different pot arrangement and Tune JCP-7 buffers for the piezo. No real call for the breadboard when the workshop would have plenty of piezo buffers to hand.

Tune Japan have a gallery of their custom builds, nearly 800 basses now; I didn't see your bass among them.

As it's a gift I'd be inclined to avoid an origin story with no real evidence.

It's either legit or a good copy and there aren't many copy clones of tunes I said chances are good I love that model.

Thank you for the info about the model name and the link, now I have much more to go on. I'm inclined to believe that a customer could have requested a neck thru design and the specific pickup/controls/different preamp for the right price, because I'm looking at a gallery TUNE Official Web Site - テューンギターマニアック and I see two TS-365 already that have completely different specs; pickup, controls layout, body wood, etc. One even has multiple jacks and no logo on the headstock. I did get it used, and I don't remember if they said what year it was made or not, so I may have to dig through a lot of pics.

I'm still dubious about the lack of serial #, but playing it, everything on it sounds and feels like a $2000-3000 master built instrument. It does have Japanese capacitors, not sure about the logo on the pots but that's a good sign that at least it's made in Japan. Even if it's a very meticulous copy, the price was too good to pass up. But how the heck anyone is supposed to play those top 10ish frets I don't know unless you tap them.

*EDIT* I just found this catalog pic from another thread a few years back, Says the neck can be bolt-on OR laminate. And maple body with a top, which is correct, I think it could be padouk if that's what "PD" is and not purple heart. Anyway, thanks for the info again, making headway onto what I have here,

My guess is they're just for show

My fretless Maniac has a 3 octave fingerboard, you don't get actual notes just subtle variations of "plink"

The year of manufacture on my MIJ TWB-4 is written on the under side of the electronics cover. You might check there. Although it sounds like maybe you already have since you got a look at the pots.

Inside back cover has shielding tape on it, no year or serial #. The pots are stamped with a symbol, like a piece of candy or an hourglass, Some numbers on the side of a pot "47," I think that's either July 2004 or July 2014. The boost circuit has a chip dated to March 2004 or March 2014. So possible I have to search back minimum of 10 years.

I don't know what it is, but it's very interesting. How does it play?

Perfect action and intonation, excellent fretwork, no buzzing, and the top notes are usable, if not very difficult to finger. It plays exactly like a $2500 Atelier-Z I once owned,

I've emailed the custom shop to see if anyone has a record of building it. Until then I have accepted that it's an excellent copy, made by someone with an understanding of electronics and who had access to CAD files or a Tune body to take measurements, and with some parts from Tune. But whoever built/owned it last took good care of it.

Hi all!
I'm the happy owner of a Tune Twb-5 Japan, it plays great but the pickups have very low output. Compared to my other basses almost half the volume. I have tried bypassing the preamp and taking the signal directly from the pickups (also bypassing all potentiometers) and still low output. Is this something you guys have noticed with your Tunes?
