Lol! "Headroom for days" as the amp sounds like it's speaker is blowing up and the recording level distorts the mic. The pedal probably does have lots of headroom, but this video sure doesn't highlight that feature.

By far my most favorite pedals on my board... sign me up any day of the week!
I haven't tried the regular Phat Phuk but I have the Mercy Phuk. I posted my thoughts a few pages back in this thread on the Mercy, it's not a warm up type of drive that's for sure.

Crazy settings! Major scooped on the EQ and Id never run the volume that high and max the gain.

Most folks want Matt/W&C to release the Bass Gold Comp version. Last year I asked about it and was told: "it was on the backburner."

Atlanta has a lot of boutique shops, but nobody has one to demo. As a side note... I ended up pulling the trigger on a used PPHF that I found used at GC. I had one before but never was able to compare to the TFR. The difference is notable, and I swear the one I had before didn't sound as good as this one. I get a really killer synth tone with the Phat Phuk, octave and envelope. May try to load a video. I think it is staying on the board and my Mothership 2 is going bye-bye

The Hella Fuzz I own is hard to pinpoint sonically. I have had many different styles of fuzz pedals and I swear I hear some fuzz face transistor bite (when I turn up the shape knob), as well as a superfuzz octave up feel when I play on the upper end of the fretboard. I also think that the PPHFs seem to be the less consistent pedals of the W&C line so not surprised if you found a better sounding one.
Has anyone noticed with their TFR, if you have any other pedal turned on after it (say a Phaser, or an OD, or a filter) that TFR has a volume bump? Is that normal? Now that happens if my last pedal in chain is true bypass. If I don't have a buffer at the end of the chain, my TFR has a much lower volume by itself, if there's a buffer at the end, TFR is louder and I can stack it with other pedals. Not sure if my TFR has gone bad or if this is normal. If it's normal though, it kind of sucks that you NEED to have a buffer at the end of the chain for you to be able to stack TFR with other pedals after it and have it at unity gain.
So does the TFR noticeably drop in volume when you engage it regardless of whether or not the pedals after it are engaged (i.e. true bypass pedals)?
Just asking, because I recently experienced this when switching around some pedals on my board. My MBD-1 has no mechanical issues, but feeding certain pedals into it required a buffered bypass pedal after it to keep it from have a volume drop and phasing noise issue when engaged. I tested it with my Wonderlove after, which can be switched from TBP to buffered. When I switched the wonderlove to buffered bypass, this volume drop stopped happening - this was without actually engaging the WL after. I think this may be a quirk with certain high gain pedals picking up or accentuating ground loop issues, but I may be misunderstanding that...
Here's some further testing:
I had these issues when plugging in my bass/pedalboard into my sound card and using a VST/Asio drivers. It's just a Sound Blaster Audigy card and I was plugging into "line in". Anyways, TFR had a volume drop when anything after TFR wasn't engaged and unless my last pedal in chain was buffered. If I engaged any pedal after TFR, there would be a volume boost (normal volume I suppose) with TFR (all of this with TFR on, of course). If my last pedal was buffered, TFR's volume would be normal - boosted.
I just came from band practice where I wanted to test this going into the amp. I set my Nemesis to true bypass. No problems what so ever - TFR's volume wasn't dropped anymore.
I think this might be an impedance mismatch using my sound card? I know I know, I need to get a solid sound card/interface for using at home instead of using just a regular Sound Blaster. I also had some weird issues with my Nemesis Delay when using at home with my sound card where the signal would drop radically unless I first engaged the Nemesis. After that, I could turn it off again and it would be fine.
So, I guess my sound card isn't really made to take all of my 9 effects? xD
Yup, its fun. It has so much power for a regular 9-volt pedal. I personally like stacking it into other pedals or hitting the front end of amps with it.
Gotta pedal that seems kind of dull... hit it with the Two Five drive and see what happens.
I have somewhat of an update on the bass gold comp.
Its apparently off the "backburner" status and I was told to stay tuned that it's now on "the chopping block." Not exactly sure what that means but I'm guessing maybe a release this year.

I've seen a few posts on TB but no real review or comparison to other muff styled fuzzes. The W&C site says it has more mids than most muffs as well as "uneven" low-end. Not sure if that puts it closer to the TFR or Tri-Pie style.
I originally wanted to get a TFR again, but if this gets me close to that with a bit of a different character, it might make for a solid purchase.

Just picked up this Sonder chorus and tremolo pedal. So far I like the features it has, choice of sine or square wave on the trem utilizing the tap tempo and a really useful boost. Chorus sounds fantastic to my ears.
Sooooo... i found a steal of a deal on a Box of War. I played one of the small footprint ones a friend had and lovved it. Needless to say, I'm now needing a bigger board. I love this pedal though.
