Always wanted to try the box of war. I'm done with fuzz tho, found the one for me.
So, I finally decided to drop the Pulp N' Peel and ordered a Gold Comp... Holy crap I love it!!!!!!
Really wish W&C would move forward on the Gold Comp Bass...
MEEEE TOOO! That's the reason I waited so long before getting the Gold Comp.
Just to add to your GAS - you really should pick up one of the limited 47/73 muffs. By far the best Ram's Head muff variant/clone I've heard on bass & guitar. I love mine.
(Also have & love the Xotic RC - that thing just does something special for passive basses.)
I agree! The 47/73 is my favorite muff style fuzz, and I've had my fair share.
The 47/73 has the lows that dont need to be blended, love using it with the band.

Ok guys, I've been on a Wren and Cuff quest lately, and I need some advice.
Originally, I had a TFR and a phat phuk b, but in a quest to downsize, I swapped them for an elephant skin...the boost on the elephant skin just couldn't compete with the phat phuk b, so I sold the elephant skin as well.
After the elephant skin, I bought a pickle pie B, which is fantastic. I'm going to be buried with it.
However, i still have an itch for that russian muff kind of vibe.
My one complaint about the TFR was the lack of mids. I've heard that the box of war has a flatter response with just as much bass. Is this accurate? Should I go that route or the custom shop route for a TFR with a mid switch?

Add me to the club, I have three/four; I have the Phat Phuk B in the box in the closet.
TFR and Box of War Don't really compare well… TFR has a completely different voice, and a whole lot more distortion. While I didn't have them both at the same time to be able to verify if they stack well… I remember them being completely different animals—And not interchangeable. Hope that helps ...
Got my Phat Phuk B today! I sold mine in 2015 when I stopped using it as an always on pedal, but now I need a good boost pedal for certain passages during live gigs. I had MXR Mini Booster for that need for the last year or so, but last month a devil on my shoulder came out of nowhere and whispered "you need Phat Phuk B back". So I got it! A brand spanking new one. Just got it in my office.
It looks more pink than I remember, a bit more vibrant pink color, less purple in it. Might be the office lighting though. Here's a photo of the one I sold in 2015:
Not the same light source, so yea. Looks like they're using a different 9V adapter connector and a different LED, which is slightly higher above the switch too. Just interesting small comparisons, what really matters is how it sounds. Can't wait to try it out at a band practice tonight.
I think I'll put it after my W&C TFR and Darkglass VMT, as its primary use will be volume boost/signal fattening when I need it. I'm also curious about TFR-PPB-VMT combo, but I think it'll work best after my other dirt.

I need to put my PPB back on the board - it's just such an amazing pedal! HUGE W&C Fan. If numbers are still being provided for club status, I'm in. And will happily post a family photo!

Pickle Pie Hella Fuzz B, CME edition, handles my fuzzy needs day and night. The classic version would do plenty for me, but having the dip switch really makes this two pedals in one.
Thanks! The MKII sounds really good. I had it on a board for a year or so. Typically a P bass into either an Ampeg V4 or Orange 200. There was nothing "wrong" with it that made me take it off that board. I just wanted to hear something else for a while.
I've grown to love the Tonebender sound on bass. Would love to hear yours if you have the ability to record a clip or two or ten
How would you describe the tonal differences/ mechanics of the two pedals? I've been interested in the Pulp and Peel for awhile now.
