Oh I'm sure he did. I was just saying that this was Damian's setup and was slated to become a specific model. I'm sure the guy who ordered it based it off Damian's 4 string, because it's the same woods, etc.

FWIW, I spoke to Joe this week. Still no word from Bartolini. He says that they do this sometimes - get hit with a big order and go silent for a bit until they finish it, then come up for air and get back to the rest of their backorders.

So no real news, but at least some communication.

Received the TJ4 yesterday and all I can say is "WOW!". This bass is like it's never been played. No nicks, dings, scratches or otherwise and the back of the neck has no smooth spots at all... a sign of minimal play.

The tone is a slight departure from the TJ5, however I'm liking it better. More punchy, less mid-range and a sweet burp on the bridge pickup.

Well, my accountant is advising me to choose between the two TJ's (which I knew jumping on this one) so I think my TJ5 will be up for sale. I'm really more comfortable on a 4.

That`s VERY beautiful !!!

On a side note, I`m trying to decide between Zon nickel vs SS for my Sonus 5/2. Never dealt with their nickel ones before.

Any experience ?

Yeah I tried. Not too bad. I don't slap that often, but I'm working on it. I sent my TJ5 to Joe to trim the extension to give me the room I needed. I may do the same with this one.

Joe does find some really interesting top wood for his basses.

I'm not sure I'm with the whole satin finish thing... My 3 Zon's are older, with the gloss finish and I quite like the look... Is "Satin" the new "Flatwound string" thing?

I have one of Joe's gloss basses, and my next one will be satin. I like it better - gloss shows finger and wrist prints. I also like the way a satin finish feels - more like wood, less like plastic. Gloss is beautiful, but satin wipes clean, feels better (to me), is lower maintenance and less "in your face".
