Usually it's only done to songs that children can easily understand to begin with. You don't see any Kids Bop Radiohead or Bjork, but usually top 40 pop with very easy to sing/comprehend lyrics and it's that way for a reason. Pop is generally marketed toward kids to begin with.

I thought it was because over 50% of adults these days have below a 9th grade level of reading comprehension.

Considering that Mark Mothersbaugh has done countless soundtracks for kid's shows and movies, AND starred in pretty much every episode of Yo Gabba Gabba, it's not really a stretch.

Yep, I remember those interspersed among various U2 and even John Cougar songs, and even ending a set on Red House. We saw no inconsistency

Face it--this stuff is ancient history to be mined and repackaged. It's nothing new. Imagine how Wagner would feel about Bugs Bunny.

It doesn't change the original. And, they will never be there at the beginning to understand it--just like I can barely imagine what it must have been like to see Elvis or The Beatles on Sullivan. So, as long as they hear it, fine. That's more than most artists get.

I got a couple of the baby rocks discs when my son was born as gifts. Metallica, Guns N Roses, and the Ramones. They are basically like most SNL skits--funny for a second, and then they go on way too long. But, also harmless. I'd put them on on occasion while the kid was a baby and I was rocking him in his room. Mostly, we left his door open and played the tv at regular volume so we wouldn't have to pussyfoot around when he got older. His favorite song at 4 was Iron Maiden's "Killers." He called it Superhero Monster music. Works for me.

One of the best concerts I've ever been to was Yo Gabba Gabba. Seriously. So much fun. Dancing with my kid to Heavy D at the Fox? Lasting memory. On the Christmas show, DJ Lance Rock's dad is Bootsy Collins and his sister is Kemba. That show was always great at having interesting bands. Hell, My Chemical Romance showed up on the Christmas Special, too.

Ahhh the Metallica record with no bass thanks to Lars and James! They were D-bags for doing that to Jason AND us bassist fans! I wonder what Jason had to say when they listened to the final mix and his bass was gone?
