btw, babies and children love music without dumbing it down.

i believe that if you love the ramones and your kids don't, you should respect their preferences rather than adding kids to the mix hoping that'll make them identify and like what you like. but hey, what do i know?

Usually it's only done to songs that children can easily understand to begin with. You don't see any Kids Bop Radiohead or Bjork, but usually top 40 pop with very easy to sing/comprehend lyrics and it's that way for a reason. Pop is generally marketed toward kids to begin with.

I don't mind the Kidz Bop versions of things. I don't listen to it, but I don't mind its existence. I have the recordings I love. I don't own the tune... so they can do with it what they want.

Dunno. When I wear a shirt, whether it says Ramones or Polo, I wear it for my reasons and the whole world can kiss my ass if they don't like it. haha. That's me though.

I can see both sides of that one. Not musical, but sort of a parallel: I used to drive a beat-to-Frigg Jeep CJ-5, rusty and the veteran of several cold, miserable underneath repair jobs (dropping the transfer case to do a clutch job in the snow, etc.). It was my transportation, not an off-road amusement toy. It used to annoy the Fmazz out of me to see groups of teens driving around in waxed, shiny Wranglers and Grand Cherokees with some extra lights bolted on and those "It's a Jeep thing; you wouldn't understand" stickers.

Cake had a point with that "Rock and Roll Lifestyle" tune.

When I was a teenager, there's no way I would wear a shirt of a band I didn't like or know about! I was fully into 80s new wave stuff like Missing Persons, DEVO, Berlin, B-52's, etc. and proudly wore their shirts. I knew all the band members, had their records, went to see them play....Nowadays it's become cool to be a 100% poser. Music just doesn't seem to matter to them like it did to us.

I actually have a couple songs of that for my kids. I don't have any real problem with it. I mean, they're both under 5 and compared to other things they listen to. Though the boy discovered zeppelin this week....

The whole album has been remixed a few times, with varying levels of bass
