I have a Carvin RL615 back in PA and it definitely rocks. But the Peavey does a perfectly fine job of reproducing accurate accoustic tones... EXACTLY the sort of organic sounds that the wish affords.

Nothing sounds phenominal about 90dB, EITHER! JUST LOUD!!!!

Some of you guys are too funny-if you read all that is already written about Wish Basses-you should know what to expect. They are not perfect-they are inexpensive and have some craftsmanship issues. They do have a particular sound and feel that is different than other basses. I love mine-doesn't mean you have to. For those that own or have owned one, I have not heard too many complaints about the tone and fewer about playability. So what- you have to tweak a non-adjustable bridge? You have to file something? If you have ever owned a stringed instrument like an upright bass, violin, etc, you have to deal with plenty of issues like these and they cost a LOT more-Sorry-I guess I don't get it.

This thread was started in Feb 23, 2003. It is one of the earlier souces for info on Wish basses and was started so that people didnt have to take someone else's word for it, but rather could just find out for themselves.

The issue is that many believe there are better basses out there for the price that dont have those setup concerns.

Sorry to come to the party so late, but I am one of the few that has posted pretty positive Wishbass review on TB. Overall, I think wishbasses sound great and have a unique tone that I have never heard from another bass. .

Someone recently mentioned that this thread is long dead. I say far from true. What is the serial number on this bass that got played and then passed around??? Wish is now into the 400's and they keep getting better. I've bought 3 over the last year so I should know.

I am willing to bet that those who dogged the wishbass would have a very different attitude if they tested a more recent wishbass.

Has anyone considered testing newer bass? A newer model? Perhaps it's time for Let's Buy A Wish Round II...

I say we go for the review of a Wish round 2. I live in Raleigh NC and could pick one up. I am also a retailer and maybe he could give us a deal as long as we are upfront about its purpose. However, I am writing my thesis and am a little short on time. So This is what I suggest:

Recreate a paypal fund:
-Create a list of interested people including addresses.

-Those who contribute get added onto the list (we should keep the list open for say a month?? that'll let me finish my thesis).

-We could organize the list by geographic area to be more efficient in travel/shipping.

-Each person would keep it for a week (record with it if possible) - post pictures of themselves with it (if possible) and post a review.

-My vote is for a simple model with frets. like:

I for one am a traditionalist (I like fender style basses). However, these things have intrigued me.

I would advise against a fretted model. Wish's trademark basses are fretless. If you are looking for a fretted model, you would have to order one direct from wishbass, it will take four months minimum, and it will cost you $100 extra.

Yes get a basic wishbass, but get a fretless. Besides, the fretless' sound GREAT!

That is an important point. I certainly agree in hindsight that it should be a completely off the shelf model - what he sells on eBay - no truss rod, no frets, passive. I think it should probably just be the bass in the picture. The most barebones model.

I'll work up an email to Wish and see what he says. I'll post his reply.

Could someone please post Prime Mover (Connie's) last name? This has gone beyond ridiculous-I consider it nothing less than theft and I think her local authorities should be contacted.
