Old School vs. New School Amplification

So... maybe this is a silly question, but how is a signal that goes through a digital wireless, THEN through a custom super awesome handbuilt tube amp affected in all this?

Is it still a sweet "airy" sound?.. or is it fake cuz of the digital wireless?..

Just curious.thanks

So a digital wireless is the exact same thing as a digital amp? I think not.

I dont think that is the point he was trying to make Jimmy.

More so pointing out that some people would have us believe that there is such a significant signal loss in any amp with a PCB, or not implementing class A, that something like a wireless system might is an outright damnable offense.
 
From talk in other circles going wireless tends to thin the signal a bit.
Of course tripping over a guitar can thin your signal drastically!

It would be interesting to see if there's any measurable latency affecting the immediacy of the response in the amp pre section to the player's touch,
Or if the wireless device does or does not add a processed edge to the signal ?????
Then how much the signal run from the stage to the FOH affects the response.

You can get away with a whole lot of stuff going live that just wouldn't cut it in the studio.

You can also capture a band live through the FOH and get spectacular results.

By the time the signal gets processes through a gazillion watts of PA system, its a crap shoot!

No, but I think Bassdirty was referring to the stated argument that because the switching amp did some square wavey things to the signal that it had lost information inherent in the original and which therefore could not be recovered. I'm going to have to side with Nyquist and Shannon on that one and disagree.

And I am curious now (after some of the points givien in this thread) , if a signal (taken apart, and put back together) via digital wireless, then through a tuber, would be considered "still better" or "more natural"/ "airy" so to speak, than going DIRECTLY through a cord into a "class D" amp.

An SVT does yield a slightly processed sound, but the warmth of the tone is still greatly enhanced by the all-tube preamp and power sections and massive transformers.

Anyone who owns an SVT knows there this slight BINK to the tone.
It's signature to the amp.
