Older musicians that still bring it

When I saw the title of this thread, I assumed it was going to be about those of us here on TB who are "aged" and still bringin it.

(I'm turning 55 in May, and I was planning on saying that I'm still rockin after 38 years of bass playing!)

But after reading the posts, it appears that most of us are focusing on pro bands/musicians. So, in sticking with that, I will say:

The Eagles.

Btw, my wife and I went to see Don Henley in concert at Wente Vineyards last fall. It was great. Don is 63, and he definitely still "brings it!"

I'll be 51 this year but I love the fact that most people think I am in my mid 30's. My wife is 42 and most people think she is in her late 20's. Whenever we go on vacation we are always asked if we are on our honeymoon. When we tell people that we have been married for 23 years, they are shocked.

There are plenty of older musicians that can still play.

BB King will be 86 this year
Chuck Berry will be 75
Paul McCartney will be 69
Brian May will be 66
Jack Bruce will be 68
Mark Farner will be 63

1) Most of the players on the front pages of guitar magazines are well over 50 (or dead).
2) At the music stores that I visit I'd say at least two-thirds of the customers are "mature".
3) What's the average age of the members of gigging bands you've seen over the past few years? For me I'd say it's at least 35.I'm talking about general pub/club gigs now.
I'm 60 and still love to play and yes, I know, there ARE plenty of kids who want to play and will still be playing decades from now. Most kids these days, if they think about being in a band at all would think more along the lines of pretty boy/dances a bit/sings a bit/ spends two hours on their hair and make-up before a gig type bands. Guitar bands? So last century!
