some filters have fixed resonance/”Q”. High resonance filters are prone to volume spikes. this has been true since the Mu-Tron III. I don’t know what filters you have but the Q-Tron is way higher resonance than, say, a bottom rocker.

Ah, now I understand what you’re saying. No, I’m not talking about volume spikes or Q, I’m talking about an overall volume jump. Like, I turn the effect on and it’s an noticeably/audibly louder signal overall than just my bass. Joeinsprings knows what I'm talking about!

...I need to hear some more clips (and ones without distortion) to say whether I’d really want it.

While I'd wait to hear the non-distorted signal of the Enigma to be sure, I don't this this will sound like a 3Leaf/Meatball-type filter.

am i missing something here? are there filters that don't play nice with the Low B string?

How do you mean "handles?" The filter will just treat it as a different frequency, like any other string.

If you mean how will it retain the low end, adjust the Blend to taste and you should be fine.

i can't imagine it cutting off any low end in lowpass mode. on the contrary....

Prolly something like not enough high freq content from the string to make it sound good. Add a light OD like a sparkle drive before it and it would prolly sound alright. Thats what made my SD->CFH->Muff'n combo from way back sound so awesome. Blendable OD adding mid/high freq content = WIN

from what i can tell the only thing it shares in common with the Bassballs is that it has a dirt switch
