All your basses are glamour level of color and slickness. My basses look so basic in comparison....which works for me.
I always lean towards the old school hippie basses like a Precision with the finish stripped off.
Here is my slickest looking bass and it's still pretty basic, I call it church bass (even though I don't go to church).

It came with a single ply black guard on it, but I thought maybe the white guard would dress it up, like it was going to church.

I’ve always loved the looks of all white basses. Not Olympic white, which is nice , but that bright whiter than white shade.
I also happen to love StingRay5’s,
and a sparkle finish is just icing on the cake.


I’ve often considered purchasing one of these models but always knew deep down that they weren’t quite right for me. I find them to be some of the most eye catching basses I’ve ever seen.

With Ernie Ball releasing their Fall 2022 BFR models . I took a chance that this would be that perfect white sparkle StingRay5 that I’ve always wanted. And I was right.

It's no secret to those on TB who know me that I'm a burst guy through and through. A classic sunburst with a tortoise shell pickguard is my gold standard for a bass. It has to feel right to me and it has to sound great to me as well, but it also has to be a burst. And, if it has a pickguard, it has to be a tort.

Contrary to what some on TB seem believe, I do NOT believe that all basses must be burst. I just like them and it's what I buy for myself. I also drool over lots of other cool looking basses, especially those owned by other TB'ers, including some already posted in this thread.

So, yeah, all of my basses are bursts. And, at least technically, none are actually Fenders, though all but one are Fender designed or FSO's, inspired by the likes of this:

So that look led to my Musicman Stingrays ....

.... My G&L L-2500 .....

..... my Franken Jazz .....

... and the oddball, my Ibanez ABG-205 short scale semihollow. Not an FSO or designed by Leo Fender, but it is a burst (Violin Burst, according to Ibanez)

MIJ Fender Precision Lyte - (I've since replaced the knobs to all gold). My first bass, bought used in the late 90s, and for the early years it was my only. Still one of my favs, and the only one I'll likely never sell. View attachment 4889563

I used to swoon over that bass in that pearl finish back when I first started playing bass. That is the exact model that I wanted. But I could only afford the Mexican PBass in burgundy wine red.

I still stand by my statement that, with you as the owner, that bass almost demands a leopard print strap. However, I have to agree that the one you chose for it is equally perfect.

My leopard strap looks great with all of my basses. I considered going all leopard all the way around. But I figured I’d just switch up from time to time.
