I've often considered purchasing one of these models but always knew deep down that they weren't quite right for me. I find them to be some of the most eye catching basses I've ever seen.

With Ernie Ball releasing their Fall 2022 BFR models . I took a chance that this would be that perfect white sparkle StingRay5 that I've always wanted. And I was right.

Has your loving the looks of other basses ever led you to purchase a bass that was cosmetically similar but a different company?

Same page - I dig bright white basses over Olympic (Bright White will turn to a duller shade over time anyway).

I haven't owned many white basses in general, but the ones I have are really eye-catching on stage.

I don't think it affects tension since the saddle groove is about normal position. I believe Yamaha's intent was to give the saddle enough room to move backwards in order to intonate properly, since the B string will typically be the saddle moved farthest back in a 5-string setup.

Actually, I'd say my Amethyst Sparkle StingRay Special fits the concept of this thread. I was enamored with the purple sparkle Adam Clayton Fender basses but missed out on buying one. When the Amethyst Ray came along, I had to snag it. I'm fortunate to have many nice basses, but this Special is probably the most visually arresting.

BINGO!!! I was in the same boat. I even remember you made the same suggestion to me. I didn't pay much attention. But then I saw my Amethyst Sparkle in person at Bass Central and I played it. I couldn't leave without it.

I know those Fender purple sparkle Claytons go for a lot of of money now. The cases were really beautiful too. But I've sold off all my Fenders since getting that Amethyst StingRay5 Special. Its pretty much all StingRay5 Specials and my Sandberg which is in the ballpark.

Yeah. At the time, I think you'd had an unsatisfactory experience with a StingRay and wanted a Clayton Jazz. Did you sell your Squier P-Bass?

Yep. No more 4's for me. The PBass and the Short Scale StingRay made way for the Crescendo. Im all 5's all the time. I have been working towards getting what I've always wanted so I can just focus on the music.

I'm a 6 stringer now, always felt I needed that so my 4 string stays in the bag most of the time as I have no need for it really. I won't part with it however, cause you just never know. But for now, the Ibanez 6 is my go to! My main squeeze if you will haha
