Only $2,000 to improve your amp's performance

No, I mean non-existent as in "doesn't exist."

Keep in mind that we're talking about a power cable, not a Strad versus a Chinese knock-off. I understand that it may seem like a plausible analogy if you know nothing about power cables, however simple a concept they may be.

I don't mind that some buy $350 or $2000 power cables. After all, life is an IQ test, and there can and should be some incentive to developing one's reason and intelligence. The better you are able to discern marketing hype from reality, the less likely you are to be taken for an expensive ride.

I guess that means you don't want to actually try out the cable that you're deriding then...prefer to just speculate, when you could actually PROVE that I don't know what I'm talking about...or not...

Bassflute has joined Queg in the ranks of the delusional. Queg performed an admittedly unscientific test into which he went with preconceived notions. His faith satisfied, he proclaimed that he is now "uninterested in bothering to further participate in any "scientific" or theoretical discussion about it." The folly of this is clearly evidenced by your sense of victory that the results came out as you hoped, a priori.

Your conclusions carry absolutely zero weight with rational people. If you haven't done a double blind test on a statistically significant sample size, you have no idea whether the cable makes a difference or not. You are basing your conclusions solely on superstition.

I guess not...I managed to convince a bunch of my friends, bass students, etc....

And I haven't PERSONALLY attacked you, so please keep it nice, or this will get closed down, as well. I have made an offer to Bob the engineer to try this cable out and prove I have no idea what I'm talking about, and then I'll shut up...

I wish people would take the time and Listen to what a ESP power cable can do to audio equipment. It changed my mind and thoughts about this subject.

I don't think Michael of ESP would ship out a $180 power cable to me to try out for free if he didn't believe in his product.

I was extremely skeptical as well...

Even if a perfect, ideal power cable existed, it would perform pretty much the way an inexpensive conventional power cable already does (simply because there isn't much to what they're called on to do), and wouldn't do the things that the cable peddlers claim.

It doesn't matter whether Michael of ESP believes in his product. I'm sure it works just as well as the power cables I have laying around.

perhaps, that is assuming mankind already knows everything we will ever know about audio signal chains, and nothing new can ever be learned nor invented...

IMHO, it's even more reason to learn the technical stuff about audio.

So show us scientifically that my cable does not do a thing...I'll send it to you free...keep it as long as you need to...it will only cost you return shipping if I'm wrong...

BTW, I do know how to play the bass a bit...

No, I'm not speculating about anything.

I guess not...I managed to convince a bunch of my friends, bass students, etc....

So by shilling them, you have given yourself a vested interest in these power cables?

I was extremely skeptical as well...

What good is skepticism without also knowing how to evaluate a dubious claim?

perhaps, that is assuming mankind already knows everything we will ever know about audio signal chains, and nothing new can ever be learned nor invented...

A certain segment of mankind apparently believes that a power cable is part of the audio signal chain. And I have been promoting the learning of new stuff all along, but are you actually interested in that?

So show us scientifically that my cable does not do a thing...I'l send it to you...it will only cost you return shipping if I'm wrong...

Try a thought experiment first:
What would a perfect, ideal power cable do? What would its function be? What would its characteristics be? I admit, you might need to have some knowledge of electricity and electronics.

Actually, it's up to the person making the extraordinary claim to provide the extraordinary proof. Inasmuch as no scientific study has ever demonstrated your contention, I don't find it extraordinary to say it doesn't happen. Further, you can't prove a negative.

I don't mean to be mean, but I do believe you are deluding yourself, hence the "delusional" comment.

this is pretty good proof

*sigh*

The purple-prosing hucksters have long been duping the rich and wish-they-were-rich alike with nearly the exact same approach: spurious claims of tintinnabulatory rewards, promising satisfactions formerly the domain of Roman perverts, using blathering run on sentences like I am now, including, but not limited to, words such as "tintinnabulatory", and terms like, as mentioned, "skin effect", when said term has no realistic bearing in the subject in the first place.

Easy to spot, and just as easy to avoid.

And yet, they succeed. Endlessly. Not under the same name, of course; the successful shysters know to change the label. Google "white van speaker scam" and follow the bouncing brand name. Same BS speaker, different logo.

Another hallmark is a complete lack of verifiable data to back their rosy claims of "fuller, thicker lows" and "creamier, middlier mids" and "bigger, harder, thicker..... lows". Their emotive claims are in lieu of, and taken by dupes as, proof enough. Turn on any cable channel after 11pm and you'll see the same thing. Shouting endlessly, Sham-wow'ing furiously, screaming like a horror-film. But wait, there's more! Act now! Operators are standing by!

A year from now, those same operators still will be standing by, but for a new gimmick. Meanwhile, in the Dupes kitchen is an unopened Shamwow, ignored since the first one tore so easily. A corroded Slice-O'Matic 9000 sits in the cupboard next to the rusting Ultimate Cheese Grater-O'Matic 5000. And, a year from now, his Ultimate Amplifier Power Cable-O'Matic 7500 will be on Ebay for a third the price of new to finance his upcoming purchase of the all-new and improved New Ultimate Amplifier Power Cable-O'Matic 7501.

Insults aside, shall I send it to you so you can prove it's worthless?

Thanks,
Cameron
