onstage FAIL

I admit I'm guilty... but my cheat notes are off stage, I have a wide brim hat that casts a shadow over my eyes, and outdoors I wear sunglasses so no one knows I'm a cheating whore that's old enough to have short term memory problems....

As for bare feet... never... but I'm guilty of a different sin in those regards.....View attachment 4286955

BTW... I'm going to plug the hats... hopefully it's legal... There's a Swedish guy in a little town called Staples Minnesota that makes them for me... Barmah Hats.. Great guy... Fun to talk to... and they can make hats for guys with heads the size of a watermelon.

you have the inf on the guy in Minnesota?

Everyone is accusing this poor guy of not knowing the material, but we honestly have no idea what he is doing on his Ipad.
He could be...
...Reading Talk Bass and commenting if the label on that ‘71 lefty p bass is legit.
...Controlling the FOH mix remotely using his nose.
...Ordering grubhub for the green room
...Livefeeding his bassface facial expressions to his FB.
My money is on him ordering a tort pickguard or flatwound strings.

The barefoot thing is strange, but I'm really surprised at how many of the posters here have never just had a last-minute pickup gig where you were given a set with very little notice. Do ya wanna nail it, or not? Not everyone's playing Midnight Hour and Lay Down Sally.

Hell, I saw a Stanley Clarke gig where all the bandmates had charts.

Most folks that sight read onstage are actual professionals.

If you need to play 40 songs at Tuesday’s gig, then another 30 at Wednesday’s, then 50 on Thursday, only to never play them again, it’d be crazy to try and learn them.

That’s what life looks like to a huge swath of the “professional” musician demographic.
Exactly.

Ah, the two worlds that TB people live in.

That looks like a very crowded stage, one with little room for David Lee Roth - style antics.

I would far rather a player get the music right than “look awesome” by showing his face. Having hundreds of clubdate gigs under my belt, where I often had never played with those particular players until that very gig, what do you think was the best option? For us to look awesome? Or for us to get the music right?

Ya see, ‘musicians’ who spend hours every week rehearsing the same eight songs that they’ve learned by ear just don’t really get what it takes to be a versatile professional. They are so focused on image that the music is secondary to them.

Thanks, I stand corrected. But I am curious about his claim to make them for you. Anyways they are a great product and I have one :)
Yep. I was able to go into their production room, and they helped me find one that was big enough. If I couldn't find one they were going to make one for me while I waited. I'm not sure they were able to do the kangaroo skin in the large (3X) since I think they received that leather precut, but the croc teeth were an option. I'm pretty sure it's a case of the parent company expanding from Australia to the US. Great product, great people... hopefully they make a go of it. They do a really good job of covering my balding melon comfortably.
