Opposite Day! Strings you hate.

we don't hate strings but the fact that we can't get any decent sound of it.

Very commendable point of view! I had to learn that the long road, until someone else played my guitar... and I realized, its not the strings, nor the guitar, it's me who need to improve. Since then I love... *harrumph* hate to hate my gear.

P.s.: ...and all roundwounds are pretty gay

"Gay" in the sense of gorgeous, right? ^^
Yet, mine are still underaged, so let's see what the future brings - if they keep their gorgeous brilliance, I mean, of course :D

I love the sound of Ernie Ball strings, but I'll never pay money for them again. By the time you are done putting them on the bass, you have until about the 2nd chorus of the first song you play before they are dead.

The strings that game on my Rickenbacker 4003S were by far my least favorite rounds ever. Nothing good to say about them. Too much tension, sounded dead while brand new, had this weird rotating feeling when i played on them hard.

Only 2 strings that I ever disliked:

Rotosound 77s. I could feel them digging into my tiny vintage style frets as I played them and they went through too many tonal changes in the week I had them on. Just the other day I saw an amazing Early 80s MIJ Squier P bass in the music store. It was wearing Rotosound 77s though and some of the frets actually had valleys lol.

DR Hi Beams. I had them on an early 2000s USA Fender Deluxe 5 string Jazz. The scooped tone was nice at first, but I couldn't un scoop them and got annoyed lol and the G string felt floppier than I'm used too.

I'm fine with just about any other string though. If you are too particular about this sort of thing chances are you can't play that well.

I really must be a wierdo cuz I exclusively use roto 66 on all my basses and love them for sound, feel and tension. Yeah, after 2-3 hrs of playing they can Get tough to play but otherwise np. Second to those are blue steel and I have black beauties on a bass and love them as well. So, as usual I prefer all thinks no one else does, I cannot just go buy at the store! Yup, I'm lefty too!
