I have played around trying to cop a Timmy C tone out of the Terror Bass, and while it's so hard to nail Timmy's tone, I do think that this head will get you in the general ballpark. I like it! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :cool:

I reckon the dark low mids are great for a heavy fusion tone but don't you think the gain up high sounds a lil' unpleasant? - Maybe it's the tubes but I'd like a little more softness in the way they clip tbh. I don't use distortion so it doesn't really matter to me though.

But I said it before and I'll say it again - I looooove my TB.

I like the high-gain, cranked overdriven tone that I can get out of either the AD200 or the Terror Bass, though I will say that some basses sound better than others when you crank these amps, and dialing in the mids is really crucial to a good overdriven tone, IME.

Used my Tiny Terror for 2 gigs this past weekend, through my Bag End Deep Red 2x12, and good GOD if this isn't the smallest yet loudest rig I've ever heard. Plenty of clean volume if you dial it in, but the Terror's default is Unchecked Aggression. It crosses many lines....

The distortion sound of the BT is a matter of taste. I just like the growly compressed sound of it when I turn the gain above 10 o'clock with my jazz bass. Gets a great mid-powered rock-vibe. For real distortion or fuzz I prefer a muff in front of it (by engaging it I again boost the tubes because of the higher volume I use for the muff sound). In my eyes the BT is a one trick pony that I just love. It is the smallest loudest amp I ever played and through my Warwick WCA 6x10 pro it just kills.

The DI signal was way too hot for the desk. I had to go Sansamp to PA and through the OTB set flat with low gain. Sounded great though.
I've just ordered a 40db inline attenuator to use next time. That should cure it.

I've read dozens of comments about the DI being way too hot, but haven't had any issues myself. Have done a few recordings at home, and played a live show and a good club last week and the soundguy had zero issue with it. Perhaps it was a bad batch? Interesting, in any event.

Has anybody resolved the DI issue??

I was reading a thread at the Orange forum and it seems like a big annoyance as some said the signal is distorted even when using a attenuator - (the signal already sounds like that coming out of the DI)

Maybe replacing the DI would work ? :(

You are probably referring to a thread I started over there.

DIs are mic level, the XLR out is line level +4 db according to Orange. Might be more if you turn up the gain knob. If you want to avoid troubles when playing live you need to have a fix for this, because I haven't yet plugged in in a board that could handle it.

I bought a -25 db attenuator, some others apparently a -40 db. The latter seems to work for sure, I yet have to test out mine.
