ORANGE BASS TERROR: The Review!

Are many of you using hot active basses with this amp? I had the Terror Bass for a while and whenever I used my 2 active basses they were a bit too much for the amp so it seemed. I've heard passive basses work better with it, has anyone found this to be true?

There is an active/passive selector pad; I did use that when the "amp told me to," in other words, when a hot input signal pushed the front end harder than I wanted to.
That seemed to solve the problem, for me.

I find that mine does move around on top of the cab a little bit. The feet on mine are pretty hard and not all that grippy. It's not a big problem though. I just give it a little nudge into place every few songs.

I wonder what the lightest 500 watt tube-front-ended amp weighed back when that T-40 was new. (If there even were any.)

I think its funny my bass is 10 times heavier than my amp. As far as the sound, I love this rig. Loud clear but can easily dial in the orange growl. I mean look at it. The Orange orange is so beautiful in person the pics don't do it justice.

How comparable would you guys say the Bass Terror is to the AD200? I've heard they are relatively similar, would playing an AD200 give me an idea what to expect from a BT? I havent been able to play a Terror in person, but my local store has an AD200

The Terror Bass absolutely cops the same tones, as the preamp is virtually identical. However, the AD200 does have a different feel to it (which, IME/IMHO, you can only really get with power tubes). If you head over to our YouTube channel, I have clips of Damon Waller playing both the AD200 and the Terror Bass 1000, as well as Phil Maneri playing both the AD200 and the Terror Bass 500.

Getting close to selling my Ampeg SVT-4 Pro and my Ampeg 810e. Bought 'em both a few years ago and it's just becoming a bit too cumbersome. (Plus I never play any louder than 9 o'clock)

How's the volume?

Gigged with my new Orange rig today. Tons of volume. Low end for days. Surprising mids and highs. Absolutely love love love this rig. My own bright orange rig of doom.

Sold mine. Loved it at first, but in the end it just wasn't doing it for me.
